Hello all,

I just built myself a new system with the following specs :

Motherboard : GA-X48-DQ6 BIOS F7g
CPU : Q6600 G0
Case : Thermaltake Kandalf LCS (Liquid Cooling)
RAM : OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) platinum DDR-2 800MHZ 5-4-4-15 @ 2.1V
CPU Waterblock : Thermaltake Volcano 4005 with 8cm Fan

I went thru this long thread to learn about overclocking my rig and used the following settings :

Quote:
MB Intelligent Tweaker (MIT)
Robust Graphics Booster: TURBO
CPU Clock Ratio: 8x
CPU Host Clock Control: Enabled
CPU Host Frequency(Mhz) : 400
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) : 100
C.I.A.2: Disabled
Performance Enhance : Turbo
System Memory Multiplier (SPD) : 2.0D
Memory Frequency(Mhz): 800
DRAM Timing Selectable : Manual
Standard Timing Control
CAS Latency Time: 5
DRAM RAS# to CAS# : 4
DRAM RAS# Precharge : 4
Precharge Delay(tRAS) : 15
Advanced Timing Control
ACT to ACT Delay(tRRD) : Auto
Rank Write to READ Delay : Auto
Write To Precharge Delay : Auto
Refresh to ACT Delay : Auto
Read To Precharge Delay : Auto
tRD :Auto
tRD Phase Adjustment : Auto
Command to #CS Timing: Auto
Clock Driving and Skew Control
CPU/PCIEX Clock Driving Control : 800mv
CPU Clock Skew Control : Normal
(G)MCH Clock Skew Control : Normal
System Voltage Control
DDR2 OverVoltage Control : +0.3v
PCI-E OverVoltage Control : Normal
FSB OverVoltage Control : +1.5v
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control : +0.15
MCH Reference Voltage Control : Normal
DDR Reference Voltage Control : Normal
DDR Termination Voltage Control : Normal
CPU GTLREF1 Voltage* : Normal
CPU GTLREF2 Voltage* : Normal
CPU Voltage Control : 1.300
Normal CPU Vcore : 1.2625

Advanced Bios Features
CPU Multi-Threading : Enabled
Limit CPUID Max to 3 : Disabled
No-Execute Memory Protect : Disabled
CPU Enhanced Halt(CIE) : Disabled
CPU Thermal Monitor 2 : Enabled
CPU EIST Function : Disabled
Virtuaalization Technology : Disabled
Please note that I just made a wild guess and used the voltages I mentioned above. The system runs stable after 8 hours of Small FFT test in prime95 and Core Temp reports my load temps as 56-50-56-50. Please post your thoughs about my overclocking and please help me optimize my voltages.

Thnx

Hi amires,
Welcome to the forum
Not much to really say on voltages all looks pretty well
Have you run Prime blend which will test your memory as well ??
Prime Small FFTs tests CPU more than ram.

What are you planning now to continue clocking upwards or sticking ??

luck

Thanks for your reply. Well I would like to overclock it to 3.6GHZ however I am a little worried about the temps. Aren't the temps I posted a little high for a liquid cooled system?

The load temps aren't overly high in absolute terms. Looking around at reviews of the Thermaltake Volcano 4005 , it doesn't seem to perform as well as a full water system THERMALTAKE VOLCANO 4005 HEAT EXCHANGER CPU WATERBLOCK & Volcano 4005 Heat Exchanger With a water blaock like the d-tek fuzion I'd expect load temps in the range 55C~65C.
for 3600.

I found with a Q6600 with a vid of 1.265v that I needed 1.40~1.4125v vcore , obviously yours might vary. At that ;oad temps were on average around 60C.

So best give it a try and see where you get to You'll soon get a feel of how far you feel safe pushing it.

luck

The EP45 DQ6 is available here in the US now but I do not have a need for 4 nic ports. I'm not sure why they did that one. Guess they got a good deal on nic chips! If I go for the P45 I will try the DS5 board when it come available. I have not seen it out here yet.

Hi,

first to say what a special and detailed thread about this mobo!! wauuu!! great!
but my problem isn´t great....i have this board for 6 month and i thought it was normal behavior but it can´t be. i have the two velociraptor hdd´s connected to intel´s sataII interfaces with ahci mode enabled, so when i power up the system from the windows boot logo i get 2 pauses of apox. 5 sec between the booting process till the logon screen appears. this can´t be normal or? i posted this problem in other german forums but no one with the same problem.
Need help, i never tryed to clear the cmos....maybe a solution or should it RMA the mobo?
thx.

Hi phorces,
Welcome to the forum , glad you like the thread
I'm not sure if it's a mobo issue ??
Are you on the latest bios ??
Have you tried the usual, defragging the drives ??
Empty Prefetch Folder
