Update: okay....i really need longer sata cables so i can have better cable mngt. because in the mists of all this, (and clumped up cables) i failed to see that my 2nd dvd drive was unplugged. was this the problem? maybe? maybe not? who knows?! but it fixed it.

i did another walk through to make sure everything was plugged in, still nothing. so i had it powered on and was just jacking with the front bezzle as ppl walked by my desk today and saw my rig. so i hit the button on my 2nd dvd drive to open it....nothing. i check "My Computer" to see if it's even recognized, nothing. hmmm...powered down, AGAIN...checked my ALL my sata cables and then saw that it was disco'd...i connect the cable and re-reseated (my new word) everything, and powered back on and all is fine now.

weird that it would be related to that, but oh well! it's fixed!

i appreciate the help ace and s'shanks!

i would say, yes, if the cable was partially plugged in...if the cable was totally unplugged, i am not sure why...NOW...was the two drives set up in a Raid array?

yeah, i believe they are setup in a raid array as well, so i'm guessing that's why it was acting like that. good catch man!

Default SATA driver

Hi

New member,

Sorry i didn`t have time to read all 600+ posts but would like a direct link to the best SATA driver to use on the GA-X38-DQ6, i have a WD 750Gb RE2.

General spec:

Intel Q9450 CPU
Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6
2Gb DDR2 A-DATA 800Mhz
Gigabyte 8800GT 512Mb

Any optimized general BIOS specs that someone has would be great help.

The stage i`m at is in BIOS (nothing on HD) noticing idle temps are 30 degrees.

Cheers for any needed info....

Sorry for long wait in reply I`m using Intel`s as gigabyte...shouldn`t of bothered, looking at tests I have noticed a updated Matrix Storage Manager 8.0.0.1039 is out, can the GA-X38-DQ6 use this ... any point using this... I see it has Intel(R) ICH9R/DO/DH SATA AHCI Controller and Intel(R) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller... What is DO/DH and M-E/M ?

Thanks for info

It's always good to use the latest drivers where possible - Unless of course the old ones were working fine, and then there's no need

You need Intel® Matrix Storage Technology (RAID) driver version 7.8.0.1012 This works on all X38/x48 etc.,

luck
