See how you go on with the suggested changes. I'm not familiar with your Ram & how it overclocks. I'm really suggesting at this stage keeping it around stock 800 whilst you see how the cpu goes

9x330 the same
9x333 NO POST
sounds like your ram is ok up to 330fsb x2.5 = 825 then fails using the lower srtrap of 2.4b means 333x2.4= 799 rather than 333x2.5= 833

Hope that helps.

I really started from the beginning to figure this out

using the best possible dividers starting from 9X285

9X285 with 2.66D [OK]
9x290 with 2.66D [OK]
9X300 with 2.66D [NO]
9x300 with 2.40B [NO]
9x300 with 2.50A [NO]
9x300 with 2.00A [NO]
9X310 with 2.50A [NO]
9X310 with 2.66D [OK] 825Mhz
9x320 with 2.66D [NO]
9x320 with 2.50A [OK] 825Mhz
9x330 with 2.50A [OK] 825Mhz

I will continue experimenting tommorow. It seems that my RAM loves working at 825Mhz. Although i guess it is impossible to hit that frequency again in higher FSB settings.

Yep there are some strange things there looking at those results. I must admit the best strap performance for me is 2.66. which ties in with your 310 result. Try increasing MCH OverVoltage Control : May help.

What is the maximum "safe" value for MCH OverVoltage Control ?

Don't know what a safe max is, I've run at 0.2 very happily & it seems to have given that extra bit of stability.

Hi all, im new here so be gentle. I just got the GA-X38-DQ6 (with E6600)and so far i really love it. It is sooo much better than my previous P5B-deluxe i cant believe it.

Thanks supershanks for your tips and advice you really helped getting my board set right.
Its a bit disappointing to see some people on different forums criticising this board, i dont think its deserved.

This board has its own idiosyncrasies as all boards do but once you work it out its great.

I can confirm that with any overclock on this board you need at least 1.4v for CPU. My old board could overclock 25% with stock voltages so yeh this board definately needs more voltage but i dont see a major problem with that. Also as Supershanks says crank up the MCH voltage a little for better stabilty.

The biggest problem i have found is the way it sets your memory when overclocking, but this board/chipset is young so until they sort it out memory timings need to be set manually. The "static read control" setting is a little tight on auto and should be loosened a touch. Generally i think the board likes looser timings and high frequency, it runs my 800Mhz ram at 1000Mhz if i leave memory on auto but i prefer the divider that gives me 833Mhz .

I dont really go for high end overclocks, i like to go as high as i can without raising the voltages and temps etc too much. Voltages must be increased a little on the baord but temps are similar to stock setting temps with my thermaright Ultra extreme. I dont like that kinda heat lag you get with high overclcock and temps when gaming online. Also i live in Australia and in summer it gets very hot.

All in all i love this board and if you follow advice from supershanks and others you will get great results. Its the best board ive ever had.

Hi Padantic,
Welcome to the forum ,thanks for the words.
Yes your right about this board, it's one of the best built i've had,
Think most of the citicism is directed at the bios, which is still undeserved, from ther results we've had. It would be nice if the bios had a few more options, but hell tou can't have everything.
Your right

I use these settings with my GA-X38-DS5, E6600 and 2 GB DDRII 800MHz OCZ ATI Crossfire

8hrs OCCT stable and 48°C at load

So now its 3.6GHZ
