It is a fresh installation. I formatted to try and solve it but no good. I tried the graphics booster on the highest...turbo i think but it doesnt really help. I havent tried the PCI-e thing, i ll give it a try. The memory speed is on turbo, even on 4-4-4-12 its the same.

I have the latest drivers for everything but something is seriously wrong. I guess i will just buy some better ram anyway to see if it helps.

Oh well , in that case about only housekeeing on OS that might help is to defrag

PCI-E thing doesn't ad much , a few points in 3dmark Latest driver isn't always the best , I'd maybe try the 3 latest & bench using 3dnmark or something.

Have you checked your link width in the graphics interface of CPU-Z ??
Select the motherboard tab & look at the bottom section both bocxes should have x16 , there are occasions when it gets screwed and drops to x1

luck

Yeh its at x16. Defragged too. Its something with the pci-e 2.0 cards thats doing it i think.

Oh i forgot to mention.

When i first boot in the morning it seems snappy for a few seconds just enough to open everest and i see my static tread is on 6 then the screen will freeze and garble like modern art picture or something then the machine reboots with looser tread of 7. Then its fine but slooooow.

Why is it failing to stay on at the right timings?.......evrything is new maybe the ram cant hack the tighter timings?.... but it did before i put in the pci-e 2.0 video card.
Its strange and very disappointing.

Thanks for the ideas.

At 400 or above FSB then TRD needs to be set to 7. if you leave it on auto it takes a value depending on the Performance Enhance setting. see Performance enhance & TRD for more info.

what are your memory settings & have you run prime to check stability. Doesn't sound too bright with the start up issue you mentioned.

luck

At the moment its on Turbo, 960Mhz 12:10 (B) 5-5-5-18-42 trd of 7. Oh cpu at 3.6.
But ive tried it at 800Mhz 4-4-4-12 1:1 tried Dstrap nothing seems to make a difference to how the system feels. Even at stock evrything and trd of 5 it feels slow its just so strange. I havent run prime but i have done several 3Dmark tests and there are no problems. Its seems to be stable as it is but slow, i'll prime it though.

I dont think its a settings problem because all the parts are new/highend parts (except for the ram)and even at stock it should be a snappy system but its feels slower than lower end systems.

Im thinking either ram problem or power supply.

I dont kno but i appreciate your input.

I know this may seem like im hijacking the thread by my question that i asked a million pages back was what mosfet cooler can i use with this board. I Basically used the one that was attached to the crazy cool stock configuration and cut the rest of it off and clamped the ends of the heatpipes but it just seems a bit wobbly for me like it doesnt make perfect contact. Im sure one x38-dq6 user is using aftermarket cooling, therefore you would need something else on the mosfets as its all one unit. Please please please can someone advise me on what to use on my pwm's/mosfets as im sure my current solution is the current bottleneck of my overclocks. Anyone selling their crazycool heatsinks? Or have a spare set they can post to me. Im desperate lol. The system just seems like it isnt running how it should and im sure its them.

Hi ckirkby3,
You need the Thermalright HR-09 U TYPE2 see compatability list. These are slightly narrower than the Asus ones. Scan have them. Although from thermalright hr-09 type 2 that thermalright recommend do not actually fit it sounnds like you've already been there
How didn't they fit ?? was thinking of ordering 1 for the x48t & getting a NB water block.

luck

Padantic,
Yep I'd give prime a run , maybe overnight if it lasts. Run blend, but if it does fail make a note of what it fails on, large or small FFts,, this might help diagnosis.

luck
