Hi chotto69,
What's the top part of your SPD Details:-
Memory Speed 800 ??
&
The Standard Timing Controls.

Please post them & perhaps we can see which are giving you the issues.

Hi supershanks,
I'm always trying to run FSB&mem at 1:1 ratio, therefore when i attempted 400 FSB, i set the divider at 2.00D (but tried A and B as well), so that the memory speed was 800. Timing control was set to Standard.
Today i was able to post @ 3.6Ghz feeding the Vcore 1.6, but when Vista attempted to load aero, i got the blue screen. I lowered a tad the Vcore and booted @ FSB 375, but after 5 minutes of Orthos, the temperature on both cores raised up to 70° and i got the blue screen again. It seems to me that this mobo needs much higher voltages to work properly, at least with the bios at this stage. As i was telling you before, with my previous one, i could run the CPU at 3Ghz leaving all the voltages in auto (tightening the mem settings to 4-4-4-12) and boot into windows at 3.4Ghz with Vcore @ 1.475. I guess different mobo, different experience...
Thanks for your help.

Hi iRoNMaSTeR,
Don't know if there's a typo are you trying for 8x450 or 9x450??

sub timings look a bit tight
Code:
ACT to ACT Delay(tRRD) : 3-->4
Rank Write to READ Delay : 3-->4
Write To Precharge Delay : 3-->8
Refresh to ACT Delay : 30--->35 (if above 3 don't work)
Read To Precharge Delay : 8-->4
tRD : Auto --->7

PCI-E OverVoltage Control : 0.20---> 0.35 may give more stability
FSB OverVoltage Control : 0.20---> If still not stable try 0.25
Try the changes above.

luck

Default OC Help needed

First of all thanx for an excellent review.

I am totally new to the whole OC thingy I have however built some PC's during the years. Anyway I would love to get a step by step walktrough on how to OC my system. Anyone up for helping a n00b out here?

My Spec:

Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 (Ofcoz)
Case: Antec Performance One P182
Mem: GeIL DDR2 PC6400 Ultra 2 GB x2 (4Gb in total) 4-4-4-12 - 1.9-2.3V
PSU: Gigabyte ODIN GT_800W
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850
Cooler: Noctua NH-U12F
GPU: XFX GeForce 8800 GT
HD: Western Digital Raptor 73,4 GB x2

Would be great if someone could enter some recommended settings/values in that templated that have been used earlier in this thread.

Thanx

Hi bluelou,
welcome to the forums.
Looks a nice build you have

Well there's several posts already in this thread showing completed templates of bios settings. It's worth having a play with them & reading Intel Overclocking Guides. Then shouting up either here or in the guides, if you hit any issues

luck

Hello, I have the following rig and i really need your help since it seems that i am hitting a wall everytime.

Mobo : Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 with Bios version F6B
CPU : Q6600 G0
RAM : G.Skill F2-6400CL4D-2GBHK
Cooler : Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme push&pull 2x120mm Skythe S-Flex

Using as a guide mainly your settings in your review of the mobo i have really strange no POST issues.

For example

9x300 everything else on auto (POST ok, WIN ok, PRIME95 20minutes passed)
9X320 the same
9x330 the same
9x333 NO POST
9x340 NO POST
9x370 NO POST
back to 9X300 and NO POST!!!

I cannot really understand what is happening. Core temps are normal hitting 71C load with VCORE at 1.45v (which is the higher i will go)

Hi Anemovatis,
Welcome to the forum

tbh i didn't like F6B too much , found F5G & F5H best for my Quad.

What Memory multiplier are you using ??
Quote:
VCORE at 1.45v
is a little high probably, for what your trying, reducing it will drop your temps abit.

Will be able to help more if can see your detailed settings, if you can copy
the template from here Gigabyte Gs X38 DQ6 and fill your bios settings in, that would be a big help.

luck
