Hi rhansme,
welcome to the forum & thanks for the news be interesting to see what impact it has. Most people's issues are around memory timings.

Hi,

I was reading this thread with great intrest and concluded to ask for advice from you guys.
First of all, i'll post a screenshot of my current setup:
(sorry for the big pic)

As you can see, i'm running at 3.06Ghz with a 340Mhz FSB. (F7 Bios) The memory is at 425Mhz wich is a 4:5 relation.

I'm wondering if it's better to clock the memory down to a 1:1 setup? I've got my 'normal timings' at the system spec, the 'other timings' are just all auto, can they go lower?

I'm not sure if I want to overclock the CPU more, I'lld like to use the CPU for a few years

So, could I get that little more performance at this speed by lowering the memory speed? Also, should I just overclock the cpu some more? Is 3.2 or 3.2 a noticeable improvement?
(I'm not trying to break any records here, just want a stable and somewhat optimized system)

Cya

Hi VMax,
Welcome to the forum
Can't really advise you on memory , I don't know what memory you have . Can you fill your specs in the UserCP - Edit Extra Options menu . Then we'll hopefully be able to help more.

luck

Will do that tomorrow morning or so..

About the memory, I just notice that some people like it to run 1:1 with the FSB, because it may be some faster? Should I just benchmark this?
Can imagine that 1:1 is 'faster', but when you've got it at a noticeable higher speed, isn't that faster also? Doing a 1:1 would mean -85Mhz for the mem or I need to crank up the FSB some more..

1:1 gives most stabilty when running higher fsb.
running with a higher memory divider such as 2.66 means faster memory.
Howver higher memory speed may give instability , for several reasons:-
1) Memory timings and/or voltage may need to be changed/slackened to reach higher speed.
2) The quality of the dividers and memory controller/northbridge/bios . Not all straps are as stable 1:1 is the most stable for obvious reasons.

under load?)
CPU Voltage Control : 1.36250
Normal CPU Vcore : 1.31250

Advanced Bios Features
CPU Multi-Threading: Enabled

I've got this set as memory:
ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr2_pc2_6400_vista_performance_platinum_4gb_d ual_channel
PC2-6400 Vista Performance Platinum 4GB Dual Channel
OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Vista 'Performance' Platinum 4GB Dual Channel with these clocks: CL 5-4-4-15

So can I adjust some more 'advanced timings'? To make them somewhat tighter then the 'auto' setting?

Thanks

This your stuff ??
OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Vista Performance Platinum 4GB Dual Channel Looks good.

Get MemSet memory tweaker

& check what the auto timings are using memset , as shown here
Memset to Bios translation
When you have the auto settings post back &, then it's a question of yesting to see what can be tightened.

luck

Nice little feature if it works. Anyone with the F8 Bios ?
