Hi ray,
Nice going with the clocks, but sorry can't help re the changelog, that's one of the problems with BTA Bios
What bios are you on ?? F8D seems to be doing well for people.
luck

I'm still on F7 (see sig.) and the 2.66D strap.
Do you think fooling around with another strap is worth the while?
Mebbe I should just be happy with stable, eh?
I'm currently re-doing the plumbing (for stoopid asthetic reasons), my wife thinks I'm nuts since I have been working on this rig since last September...lol Did finish playing Crysis though..on Very High <20FPS but it looked awesome. When the build is back up I might try it on High for a few more FPS.
Then I want to post my build log in your "Rigs" section, as it is really wild looking...
Ray

Hell yes don't give up, at least you can save the profile & have a proven stable level to retreat to

supershanks,
I got this from your page 3:
THe straps are summarised below:-
Anyway, pardon this dumb question , but can my memory do the 1:1 (2:00B) strap? Is that the best performance goal to shoot for? And yes I have read the Intel overclocking guide..(several times).
Even though I've been working on the rig for months, that was all the HW and WC (and buying new parts for ones I "accidently" broke). I only tweak/tested for a couple of days (always working with the 2.66D strap, which you felt was very stable and therfore made me feel stable..) and I'm still a bit vague on the "routine/best practice".. And for gosh sakes I dont want to deep fry any of this investment.
Ray

Hi ray,
No you won't blow anything running 2.00 compared to 2.66.
As an example lets look at your curtrent clock 430x9 Mamory is at 2.66= 430x2.66= 1144Mhz
Running 1:1 = 430x2= 860Mhz.
so all your doing is downclocking your memory. this might give the oportunity to tighten timings perhaps to 4,4,4,12 foe example.
Another alternative is to run a higher FSB and lower cpu multi. Lets assume you wanyt to keep the same CPU Speed 430x9 = 3870 So try 3870/8 = 484 fsb at 1:1 = 484x2 958. Again that should run at 4,4,4,12
I find the easiest way to think of ram straps & dividers is like the gearbox on a car.
The lowest gear is 1:1 , memory clocks same speed as fsb but as it's ddr2 = FSB x2 = 2.00 in gigabyte speak. Highest gear , shown on the chart is 4 which is 2:1 in other words memory runs at 2x actual FSB
Hope that helps

supershanks,
You make it sound like soup-2-nuts in a tin can.. lol.
I'll be doing the re-plumbing and leak test Saturday and hopefully on-line with your suggestions on Sunday. It would be great to do these Crucials @ 4-4-4-12.. (I thought the 5-5-5-10 was great). That would be something to take note to.
If that works out it would attract a fair amount of Internet attention for users of this mobo- I'll bet..
Giga-Byte x38 OC Class 101. b, eh?
Keep the tRD @ 7?
I'll keep you advised.
Ray

1) tRD : Auto --> 7
2) FSB OverVoltage Control : 0.35 _> try higher values.
3) Read zenoth's GTLRef translation and see if any tweaks help you.
CPU GTLREF1 Voltage* : Normal
CPU GTLREF2 Voltage* : Normal
4) what bios are you using the latest F8D seems to give best results.

ok i got the stuff and i'll run it in a little bit, but neways why use core-temp instead of everest? it doesn't even show a bar graph to display the temperature changes over time...
1. ok i'll try that...
2. um, .35 is the max last time i looked...
3. i thought u said changing those settings did nothing for you?
4. F7, i've gone to the gigabyte site and they don't list the F8D yet, know where i can get it?
UPDATE:
1. i didn't find a "tRD" setting, there was only one called tRRD, which i changed to 7 as u said... i didn't see any differences
i ran prime again, from the site you gave me, and this time it only ran for about 1 min and 30 seconds, when it got an error in one of the cores... the rest kept running stable at 75% total load.
the temps were around 50-65
vid was marked as 1.52 during idle, and 1.49-1.5 during load on everest.
**the current vid setting i have on the mobo is almost 1.55 on the mobo**

@Ray Yep Luck with the plumbing & leak testing hope the Ocing goes well after rthat. Look forward to hearing from you and seeing that build

It didn't do anything for me but it's helped Zenoth & others.

Write To Precharge Delay :
Refresh to ACT Delay :
Read To Precharge Delay :
tRD :
tRD Phase Adjustment :

Re VID I was referring to the VID shown by coretemp, rather than vcore.
This is the Stock Vcore for the Chip. Our CPU's have a range of Vids , some are higher , others lower. it would help to know what yours is.
see for more info:-
See CoreTemp in top right of the picture You can see the Vid ast the bottom of the top section of info it = 1.1125v in this example

ok... if u mean wut my default voltage is, it's v1.325
and here's an image just to make sure i gave u the info u needed...
and thxs for that link, i'll update it right now, and see what happens. hopefully my settings aren't reset...
UPDATE:
ok updated to F8D, didn't see a difference still...
might i add, i think i just noticed a disturbing fact, it seems everytime prime 95 gets an error in one of the cores, when it's running the 4 threads, it's always core #3.................... :|
well, just to make sure there's nothing wrong with that core, i'm running prime95 on it alone, and it's been going for a few min. now, hopefully it's not that one core... i'll let it run for about an hour i guess.
UPDATE 2:
ok nvm, maybe it's just coincidence or something... i just ran prim95 on that one core for 1 hour, and it got no errors, everything was good... so i guess i dunno... >_>

yep at 1.3250v your vid is a little bit more than mine 1.2625v So logically you may need more vcore at 9x400 but i still wouldn't expect much more than say 1.450v (mine was 1.41625v i think)

So try using the CPU GTL Ref.
As I say it did nothing for me but it's basically for fine tuning the core power see the previous Zenoth link. The Abiyt IX38 Quad GT has a more usable CPU GTL Ref this link & the links there will give more info Finding Optimum GTLRef
This is also a useful guide re definition CPU/NB GTL Voltage Reference
