supershanks,

Thanks for the tips with the 4x1GB Crucials. I had RMA'd them back to Newegg by that time . At least I'll maybe have a fresh set to work with here in a week or so. I'm still at the settings I posted on the previous page.

I was curious as I was going back through this thread. I set the tRD @ 7 and I'm doing well, but I left the Perfomance Enhance at Standard. What else is affected when toggling this value, lets say to Turbo? And is it helpful to up that value (or does it make any difference at all)?

Should I experiment with any other strap that gets me 1064 for the Memory Frequency?

I'm almost shocked that it is working so well on 2.66D (430x9) Mandatory to fiddle a bit more.

I've got to deal with the OC on the 8800GTX now as the AtiTool I was using in XP wont work in Vista. I'm playing with Rivatuner now (but that is a different beast).

if trd is left on auto increasing Performance Enhance from Standard tightens trd. not seen any other effect, though it doesn't preclude them

the 2.66 strap is one of the best i've seen on any board, it impressed me was more stable at 2.66 often than the lower 2.5 I just wish other mobos had the 1.33 strap .but not so many do.

what tras are u on i founf my ballistix 8500 would run great at 10.
It's a strange thinh that since running with the E8400 i'm having to run at 12

supershanks,

Yup, still running tras on 10. Still quite happy @ 3.87GHz. Since I'm running the two seperate water loops the temps are interesting. The CPU will get to ~60-62 during short times in the blended Orthos, but stays stable. Since none of this heat is getting passed to the GPU loop the hottest my GPU has gotten is 51C.

I did get Rivatuner to work great in XP 32 and Vista 32. My BFG 8800GTX came with a mild OC of 610/950 and I've got it loading with 621/998. Anything higher and I get artifacts. Wish I had gotten an Ultra, oh well. Crysis plays beautifully on my 22" LCD @ 1680x1050. I'll post frame rates.

When those other two Crucials come back, I'll work with your suggested settings. For now I'm just pleased that I'm running stable. After months of HW mods on that CrAzY rig, your work with this mobo saved me a lot of time.

Good luck with your E8400. Folks are having problems with temp. monitoring apps and the 45nm duos it appears. Are you running it on the x38 Gigabyte?

Ray

Glad your running ok the new crucial should see you right . You'll have a sweet setup then

When your sorted if you can mange it, it would be great if you could fill in a bios template & your stabilty so that others can have a base to go from.

, yep you can say that i got a 2nd from Scan that's running way hot, wanted to put it in a htpc but it doesn't look good.

I'm using Mobo X with my 1st E8400 but am still posting the bios screens, before kicking it off , chasing intel up is intefereing with my play

Hello,

First off I'd like to thank you all for all the valuable information in this form! :-)

I'm in the midst of ordering parts for a new build and I was wondering what you guys/gals think of the following, in regards to compatibility with the X38-DQ6 of course.

VISTA 64
E8400
Geforce 8800 GTS 512MB (G92 based)
APEVIA X-Jupiter Jr. G Type
Corsair HX520
2 X G.SKILL F2-6400CL4D-4GBPK PC2-6400 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12 240PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit
OR
2 X Patriot Extreme Performance 4GB 2X2GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12 EPP Dual Channel Memory Kit
== 8GB of ram in total.

So the questions I had were:
1) What do you think about the RAM, I'm most concerned about stability, I do not plan on overclocking (at least for a couple of months) and if I do it will be minor.
2) Is the power supply adequate, remember no need for an OC - a minor one at best.

Any opinions would be great!.

Hi everyone,

Do any of you know what is the latest BIOS revision changing when compared to the current final? I'm talking about F8b of course. And I have a link for download, but I cannot post it since I just signed up to these forums.

Hi guys,
welcome to the forums

@taal
Not sure about the ram use 2x1gb, but both firms produce good performance memory products, so either will be fine.
what are you planning to cool your 8400 with , there are heat issues at the moment, they run somewhat hotter than expected, or the CPu's internal core sensor is screwed.
I always plan that a psu will last 2 or 3 builds, so usually get a psu with a bit more power than i need , giving room to grow
Corsair make good PSUs if you can manage it i'd go for a higher wattage, if not it should be fine.

luck with the build

@Zenoth,

just paste your url into your post like this for example :-http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=8519
and i'll check it out & add the link for you.

Do you mean a change log ??

luck
