up vcore again & rerun prime sounds as if your creeping closer to stability.

Bios problem F5h....

I had to restart from scratch....I changed the timings...and boom....

My comp was dead...I cleared the cmos few times and nothing was working....The computer did not want to boot....It was keeping rebooting after few seconds.....
I unplug/plug everythings back.... got back in windows with default setttings....2.4g/266.....The beta bios did not like my computer at all !
I reflashed to F7 and start the test again from 2.4, 3, 3.2, 3.4...

I put all values in bios by default/auto
I decreased the memory to 700 just to make sure it will go throught....
I start overclocking ONLY the vcore.....

So after few hours...

3.4G is very stable with vcore=1.400v (1.328v cpuz) load temp is 57-59C, idle 42C
as soon as I drop the vcore it reboot.

I don't know what to do right now try to got up a bit 3.5 with higher vcore/temp or stay like that it is safer....is it safe to run the cpu at 1.5v 24/7 ???

thanks

Hi marcus,
Did you load bios defaults before flashing bios ??
It's unusual to have that sort of issue.

I'd save the settings that you have in a profile & make a written record of them.
Then try for 3.5 in the same way as you have been doing if it fails increase vcore a notch.

when you say
Quote:
3.4G is very stable
is that because it boots to the os or have you been running prime??

When i 1st ran 9x400 stable i had the folowing voltages:-
PCI-E OverVoltage Control :0.20v
FSB OverVoltage Control : 0.20v
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control : 0.175v
CPU Voltager control : 1.425

Further tweaking allowed me to drop vcore :-
PCI-E OverVoltage Control :0.20v--> 0.35v
FSB OverVoltage Control : 0.20v---> 0.20
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control : 0.175v
CPU Voltager control : 1.425---> 1.400v

So it might be worthwhile increasing both PCI-E OverVoltage Control &
FSB OverVoltage Control

luck

I'm sorry <3, is there a reason you posted to this thread ??
this thread is for the Gigabyte GA X38 DQ6 motherboard , which I assumed you had.

if you have the Asus M2N32-SLI Premium/Deluxe you really need to be postiong in a seperate thread , if you'd like to confirm which board you have I'll move your posts.

I think I found an issue on my system...the ram....I don't know what happened today but I can't use the voltage for the ddr2 I use to use. It started when I tryed to play with the timmings.... it seems that I burned a stick.

kingston say to put 2.35v to get to 1200mhz so in bios it is +0.55 but now as soon as I put more than +0.35 it keeps rebooting and I have to clear the bios....

I removed the problematic ram and it looks good.
I can continue my o'c with 1G only :-( in vista :-( :-(

Okay, so I kicked up the vcore to about 1.33v and ran a stress test (small fft) for about 3 hours with no problems.

i did notice that CPU-Z showed some drops in vcore (1.28v) during stress testing, speedfan stayed at 1.30v and when i ended the testing, the vcore jumped back to 1.33v. is this normal?

i tried posting adding a link to the pix, but same deal. i need to have 5 posts before doing so.

My 1st reply to you was
Quote:
I Think perhaps it may be memory that's at issue here rather than CPU.
With that a mount of vcore CPU should be stable.

Why don't you rma them. if their not running to specification. ,

I very much doubt it. Damage is more likely to have arisen if you've been running the ram at that voltage for extended periods without adequate active cooling. The ram chips start losing effectiveness & gradually die.

Hi lokeey,

running prime longer will give more certainty of stability , but sounds like cpu is stable.

If your at the speed you want to be & are happy with temps, suggest you run prime in blend mode, ie large & small ffts, so that both memory & Cpu are tested. Again the longer you can run it the more certainty you have that the rig is stable.

CPU-Z is great for cpu info except vor vcore , ignore it. there aways is a drop in vcore when looking at idle & load voltages . you can see the same thing here see vdroop halfway down post the vdroop gap widens as vcore increases. what's more important is a stable vcore, that's delivered by a decent PSU, as lomg as you have that , vcore isn't a big hitter.

hi supershanks

yeah you were right but yesterday morning there were fine I was runing at the specs on the box :-) anyway I think I will get the ram I had in mine before buying the hyperX 9600.....Crucial Balistic 8500 all the way !!!! I might get 4 Gigs.... is it better to get 2x 2Gig or 4X 1G for overclocking....I know that the timmings for the 2x 2g is usually not as good as 4x 1G....

was do you think?
