what about the 8x400 = 3200 with 2 as a memory multiplier

I tried and it works but in terms of performance it gives me worst results than 367x9

and in my case memory is slower too: even though it is running at 800 vs 734, all the other settings must be left at "standard", while with FSB 367 i can set the performance level to "extreme" and in the benchmarks i can see the difference.
I think i should wait for a new bios to see if they added a better support for memory, particularly in my case since i'm using 4 1Gb sticks. I wonder if Gigabyte has any plans to release a new bios anytime soon... Grrrr
Thanks for your invaluable help, supershanks: i really appreciate that you always find time to reply to everybody, no matter how silly the questions might be (now i'm talking about MY questions )
Cheers m8!

The most recent bios i tried is the F6b, the last beta that appeared on Gigabyte's homepage. Thanks for the german link: I'm afraid my german is not that good either, however i was able to understand that there are a number of bios(es) rated as TEST BETA, so i guess a sort of release candidates for beta that didn't make it to the official Gigabyte download channel. These are F7a, F7f and F7h, however i'm not sure if i want to risk the stability of my system with a less-than-beta bios especially considering how crappy betas and official bios are here!
Thanks for the hint though: it's good to have an alternative channel to see that at least they are trying to make another bios. If they are able or not is the next important question... ah ah ah

justed wanted to thank supershanks and the rest on here for helping OC this MB...completed orthos and prime95 with no errors...now im just trying to lower vcore so that my temps lower...

originally had it on 1.4v, now at 3.5v
raised pcie/fsb/mch voltage by +.15
ram at +.3v

the highest any of the cores ever got was 59C...is this okay or should i keep on messing with the vcore? should i do anything else to try to lower temps other then going to water....right now just using zalman 9700...thx again...

Hi LongRifle,
Glad to see your getting there
Increasing the pcie voltage does seem to help support a slightly lower vcore.
Just wish there was a VTT bios control as on the Asus & Abit boards.

Those temps are fine I would think you may have a bit of room to edge towards 3.6k.

I couldn't run air cooling initially due to postal strike, with my board. Comparable figures on a prime run on the abit 9x400@1.435v

It's up to everyone to decide how hot/noisy they want to run. Those abit results are about the
top line i'd feel comfotable at 24/7.

i'd guess yours will pan out pretty similar.

Thanks for the word
luck

can someone please give me some general bios settings for my ram (and cpu for that matter) ive got a q6600 (currently wiv a pooey intel cooler, but butchered off the 80mm fan and replaced with a 120), 8800gts 512mb, ive got the x38 dq6 mobo and ive got ballistix 6400 (4x1gb) just wondered what settings, and voltage settings (e.g +0.4v) you guys use on that ram. and also what mosfet cooler will fit the mostfets?!?! the thermalright hr-09 type 2 that thermalright recommend do not actually fit, does anyone know which mosfet cooler will? Or even ramsinks. i quite like the enzotech/swiftech copper ones (currently using them on my 8800gts and they stick really well), would they fit though?, if anyone is currently cooling their mosfets with ramsinks on this board, please let me know which ones you are using, as i am just using the stock mosfet cooler, i butchered from the whole crazy cool system, and actively cooled hr-05's on norh & southbridge, ready for my phase unit

F7 bios seems very poor for overclocking my quad, it seemed that f3 overclocked better. But which bios is recommend for my board is it still f5h, f5g or another?

Gigabyte GA X38 DQ6 Blog see links there's a couple of completed bios templates for the clacks shown. I'm using ballistix 8500, so you may either up voltage a bit or slacken timings.

without doubt for me Overview has some info on key memory setting & best bios.

Can't help yuo with heatsink sorry i stuck with the pipes. Look forward to see your phase unit perform.

Dinos22's 600MHz+ FSB Benching session Gigabyte X38-DQ6 + E6750 + Corsair PC10000 + SS Phase
may have some info.

luck
