Hi thank you for all , i fear of burning all the things, i have stock fan on CPU, 25cm fan on the case and 3 12cm fans. I dont wish to make the best overclock just want to put it up abit. Supershanks your configuration nearly same of mine, can you just give me a table for stable performance update. In the tables you given you have CPU skew or something like that but in my bios there is nothing like that ... Sorry i wanted too much thank you..

See Pic3 in this link Some Settings are Hidden, CPU GTLREF1 Voltage Ratio & CPU GTLREF2 Voltage Ratio. To access these press [CTRL] + [F1] keys from the main menu.
Then you'll see it.

I use the f5h bios. What bios do you use?

Intel Q6600 GO
I got 4 kingston 9600 ram sticks, each 1gb. 4x1.
I got an Zalman watercooling, cpu temp now is 34 in bios. with 1.428 volt.

It can work for a few days, but suddenly when i try to reboot my system it will not start @ all. It tried to recover the overclocking, but it does not work
I must then take out 3 ram sticks, maybe clear cmos and start all over again.

Any changes i shuold do?
Ram prices is cheep atm, so i am thinking about getting 2x2GB instead of 4x1gb.

Hello again!

I think i found out why i didnt boot!
its this TRD settings...

tRD : 5

i have now set it to 8, and works nice so far.
Anyone who have tested how much performance we loose for each step up we take this tRD settings?

I think that the tRD settings is the reason for loop in bios overclocking recovery. The SPD settings is 5 for the trd.

It takes time to be friend with a new motherboard, i must learn to know it in and out, up and down.

My new bios settings... anything i should change now?

Still 4x1gb kingston 9600 ram, q6600 g0.

Will update my bios settings laiter.

Hi cornel.

Welcome to the forum

Yep the Static tRead Value or Trd value is ny far the biggest stumbling block in getting this mobo clocking well. Think we've all been victims of it at 1 time or another

It's mentioned a few times around the thread & in the Overviw
Quote:
The biggest problem setting is with the Static tRead Value Trd The value is modified according to the value of the Performance Enhance Settimg ([Standard], [Turbo] & [Extreme]) and strap used. The value selected on auto is often too tight. If running >400 FSB it’s best to use a minimum value of 7. The other option is to run at a lower Performance setting, with the corresponding performance hit.
Glad your sorted

luck

Hi, great forum! Thanks
I have a problem.
My system always fails Prime95 small FFts.
After building it I went straight to overclocking and lost 2 weeks trying to stabilize it with different bioses and settings.
Finally today I loaded optimized defaults 2.4GHz and wow at stock voltage it fails after 3 hours and at 1.4V after 13 hours.
The temperatures are fine, the system fairly straightforward Q6600 CO, 4 gigs of G.Skill DDR 1000, 550W corsair PSU, running Raid 0 on Gigabyte controller.
Am I missing something obvious? Does this sound like the CPU or mobo problem?

Hi Srf Cast,

Try some of Supershanks recommendations with static tread value and increase the mch/fsb term./pci-e voltage a litlle. It seems many people have problems with 4gb of memory. If your memory timings are 4's maybe try 5's.

Hi Padantic,
Thanks for suggestions.
I have the static tread at 8 and tried increasing mch/fsb pcie voltages when overclocking which didn't help.
The memory is at 5s. I've read about the problems with 4gb too, but I thought it was related to 4x1gb sticks (I have only 2 sticks). Just in case I'll pop one off and try again. I can't belive the system is not stable without even overclocking

hi Srf_Cast,
welcome to the forum
failing on small ffts usually are linked to cpu failure as the data is sufficiently small to be processed without using much ram.

However it's much easier to help you if you copy a Gigabyte GA X38 DQ6 Bios Template, enter your current values & post it here.

it doesn't sound like your that far away perhaps one of your voltages just need a nudge.

luck
