i have not seen ram with tras that low
Your right, think the lowest i've ever been was 8, mostly it's >=10

Providing you have a decent psu I wouldn't. worry about the way it went off.
The overclocking recovery only covers you between post & boot, in the OS you get bsod, freezes & power off, restarts.

luck

PSU : Enermax 720watt
Case : Coolermaster Cosmos 1000 (3 additional 120mm fans)
5 HDD (1x250GB, 4x160GB on RAID 5)
and nVidia 8800GT

that should be the sum of my power consumption.

It went off on post just after i saved the new bios settings and i restarted...it's like the overclocking recovery was off at that time.

I will change the timings and try again. Although i have read that my RAM should have no problem running at 1000mhz with those tight timings and +0.35 voltage (0.5v more from the recommended 2.1v) but maybe it needs more voltage or it is a fairy tale.

Added a signature with my rig. But no overclocking results on it yet because i haven't reached my goal.

Whether it's a fairy story depends where you read it the last 2 timing 3,5 sound very Alice in wonderland. have you got the link??
Most decent 6400 will run at 1000
See Overclocking Performance (Highest Ratio at Highest Speed) Bear in mind that you'll not be able to run 24/7 at those speeds & will need active cooling on the memory if running thoose voltages. Note settings

PSU should be ok.

Here is the link with the review of G.Skill
G.SKILL F2-6400CL4D-2GBHK Review - Page 1 - Introduction

Although now i noticed that i overlooked something "Note: 4-4-3-5 did not work at 1000MHz, but tweaking the settings to 4-4-4-6 stabilized the system."

But still the timings are very tight as you can see.

edit : In the link you have provided they are talking about other modules "G.Skill F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ 2GB" and not "6400CL4D"

HI Richardo, Supershanks will be here shortly but I can tell you a few things.

Put the vcore on 1.4v
raise pcie/fsb term/mch voltage by .15 each.
leave ram at +0.3V
Put "performance enhance" to turbo

try 333 fsb
with memory divider try 2.40 "B", that will leave ram at 800Mhz you can try another one but try one close to 800 Mhz
make sure "static read control" is 7 or so, you can tighten timings later.

My system is running with these settings now except static read control is 6. If you want higher than 3.0Ghz you might need to raise voltages a little more according to Supershanks settings and use different divider.

yes sorry didn't find your particular ram when i searched, so took general 6400. Yes your right it is very low latency. As it says 1000 on 4-4-4-6, you might still need 8~10 tras. Memory reviews are a bit short on substance getting it for a few minutes for a bench is a bit different to having prime or memtest stable.

Cheers

Hi Richardo,
Welcome to the forum mate

You've done right with your vdimm & timings, give Padantic's good advise a try. At 1.40v Vcore your cpu should be ok up to about 3.6k, so iif you get any failures between stock & 3.4k say it's most likely going to be memory related.

If you leave static read control on auto the value will be modfified by what you have Performance Enhance set to.
Performance Enhance has 3 options:-
Standard, Extreme & Turbo.

So either leave static read control at auto & try a lower Performance level, if unstable. Or try manually with 6 or 7 as Padantic suggested.

If using auto use
Memset
in windows to learn what your static read control (trd) is being set to. Memset shows it as Performance box.

If you need a guide on overclocking the boss has done some decent guides Intel Overclocking Guides.

If you have any problems please post your timings by filling in the Gigabyte GA X38 DQ6 Bios Template & we can help you out.

Luck
