Hi James,

I'd try as I said then
Quote:
running the Memtest HCI just to check the memory. I'd try it overnight to give it a good test

Ok Supershanks,

Will do. incidently currently running prime95 blend with your original settings tweaked Cpu Voltage, Cpu Pll Voltage and NB Voltage. Now 45 Minutes and going.

Thank you for your wisdom.

I don't know if I could take another Eurocup. My fellow Greeks are still celebrating the last one.
On a serious note I have my doubts but the same thing could have been said for the 2004.

Hey Supershanks,

I thought of informing you of my current situation. Currently i'm running prime95 blend and it's been three hours without a problem (still got my fingers crossed and their starting to ache).
I ran a memtest last night (2 instances) and eventually got an error. That didn't surprise me because I was still using your (more or less) settings and I knew they still needed something. The error occured in about 4 hours after many loops. If the memory had a physical fault I assume the error would repeat (I know that is not necessarily true).

I have currently tweaked cpu voltage (1.35v), nb voltage (1.71), fsb termination voltage (1.34), cpu pll voltage (don't remember, I'll check it out after the test), Ai settings on auto, FSB strap (400, highest setting, won't work on auto), pcie (100).

whether you believe it or not, I believe that pcie set to 110 was giving me some grief. If the test goes well, I'll start to throttle back on my settings to see if it stay's stable. (that is assuming I continue not to get any errors on my prime test)

Hamilton, Scotland. Looks like a beautiful place. Nice lush countryside and varying weather. Just my style. I was born and raised in Quebec City, Canada. I came to Naxos Isl, Greece in 86. It’s nice here but I get bored of the weather and the terrain. An Arab once said, if every day is a sunny day then you end up with a dessert. The winter is nice but the summer is sunny (day after day after day…) and it eventually gets boring. The terrain is semi-arid and I long for the green I use to see when in Canada. Maybe it’s just as they say, the grass is greener on the other side (in this case you can actually say that literally )

Sounds like your making good steady progress there
Yes your right re memtest , it may just be a timing/voltage tweak that cures that. HCI is a good test tiool but i don't think the designer was an overclocker, from the documentation

Yes think your right Naxos looks great , not been but looks similar to Rhodes, where we went a few years back and which we loved. We just moved up here last July , so it's still fresh with us, with plenty still left to explore Still

I'm Back!!!!!

The latest news is that I had it running for nine continuous hours last night doing prime95 testing without any problems. I do have a heating problem under these settings that is to say my CPU would max out at about 65 deg and max core temp would be 76-80 (don't forget where I live ) ambient temp was at about 28 deg (idle temp of cpu is at about 35 deg). Definitly got to go for a serious cooling system.

Seeing that I'm a noob in water cooling (I know there are a lot of how-to's out there) I have one simple question. Are all parts connected in series or do we place any parts in parallel using Y connectors.

Best Wishes
James Theonas

Good news m8 , well done

You want it in series. My loop goes Radiator ---> Resevoir---> Pump -----> CPU --> NB --> Gfx --> Radiator.

luck

Thanks shanks,

I won't forget it. I was truly lucky to happen on your post, your input was a gold mine. Not just for understanding my mobo and stuff but for the parallel searches sparked by this post.

I'm not a newcomer to IT (I'm the systems admin at our municipality), but I am relatively new at OC'ing.

If your ever planning on visiting our parts, make sure you let me know, there is a debt that has to be repayed.

My e-mail (for general use) is jamestheonas@yahoo.com. If you send a message to it I will respond using one of my true active e-mails.

oh, i do have two questions, 1) why would I want to degrade my bios other than if I'm experiencing something specific. That is to say, is there something wrong with later bios for the p5e3 or was the post for general purpose? and 2) whatever happened to those memory sticks you sent back, did you get them replaced or did I misunderstand?

Anyway, that's all for now (I'll let you enjoy the game romania - france currently 0-0 )
