Hehe obviously we have taste . Get the thing built be good to see how we both get on. That E8400 might be the right choice:-

To run my Cellshock at their rated 1800Mhz it means my minimum FSB = 450.
They should be capable of benching to 2,000Hz which means an FSB >= 500, maybe those E8400 & E8500 are looking more attractive.
luck

Default How to Flashback Bios

As usual Asus has made it difficult to flash bios back to an earlier bios.

The best method is :- Asus Update.v61002
Thanks to Kensek on Asus Support forum who told me about this fix originally provided by Cuke2U.

You need to enable Downgradable option

Then select Update from file (don't use live update ever)

Select file & then flash.

This worked fine for me.
There is a risk have your DVD ready in your drive in case flash fails, bios recovery should take place fron the DVD in rthe event of failure.

Well will get back to this hopefully sometime next week. Have had a number of stability issues last week. Checked memory early on was ok, checked drives & CPU just about sorted saturday. Sunday played up again memory failing on auto settings so RMA time. Not even pushed that hard

You sure its the memory shanks and not the board Seen mine fail in dual channel but be perfect stable when checked individually.

Hi m8,
pretty sure

Issues started week before last I added a 2nd 500gb drive . After running rock steady, stability went.

first thing i tried was ram so tested it and all passed.
Wondered about cpu so ran prime small ffts overnight , not a problem.
Next started checking Drives using Hitachi feature tiool.
Checked bot 500gb overnight, no issues.
Checkerd the 4 x 80gb drives on my raid. Found 2 had errors. Wiped them & fixed them. Raid Ok again.

So saturday was back running pretty well. Like I say Sunday ran like a dog. For the 1st time memory failed as above. This was running at spd settings and max specified vdimm,

Hopefully new ram will sort it, but find it hard to understabd why it's failed with virtually no ocing. I do miss some of the bios features from other boards though not having a dual channel gtl ref is a weakness.

cheers
