I found mine great on 68% / 67% steady as a rock. Main clock was 470x8 24/7.

i am looking for an E8500 over here in the USA...so far no luck!...wanted to test it to see VID and how low i can go with the CPU GTLREF %...

i noticed my VID on this 2nd 9650 went from 0.9625v to 1.1375v after flashing to Abit's latest beta on the Pro board, which was suppose to handle wolfdales with point 5 multi

The GTL ref didn't have any positive effect at all on the 8400/DFI X38/Phase combination for me. Things went better on that setup with it disabled.

We were wondering about this the other day - we know that the GTL ref is less effective at higher temps, and it *appeared* to be the case for very low temps as well (-40 ish).

Anyway, back to air cooling for the 8400 tomorrow, and then it's up for sale

WHY????...this is distrurbing me...what i am thinking that coretemp is reading this from the bios not the chip directly and therefore, Abit is inducing code that is incorrect or it is updated to correctly read...in my case, i think it is incorrectly since i can not raise the multi above default...correction; in the bios i can raise but it doesn't take after saving it.

Think is a fair assumption. the vcore selected by abit was also way out. 1.225v rather than 1.1225v

The half multi seemed to work ok for me after the flash using your command line, from your guide, in preference to Abit's.

i know my VID is lower than what is reported right now with the latest Abit beta bios...i can run my 9650 at 1.04 vcore at stock speed...it will even wPrime 1024M stability bench at that vcore, which is really low...it is probably one of the reasons my PWM and core temps go into the stratospehere when i raise the vcore above 1.38v
