Default LittleDevil Single Stage Phase Unit - Living Review.

I've been itching to get phase cooling for quite a while now, but never got round to it for one reason or another, usually the lack of available units in the UK and the time/wait involved in getting one.

So, you can imagine my interest when clirkby3 posted his unit on our forums.

I contacted LittleDevil and got a price, and the unit took 5 working days to arrive. (You can contact him here.)

Here are the pics.

Very large, solid , heavy box.

Packed well with lots of polystyrene all round.

All the bits packed on top of the unit.

The box contents and phase unit covered in pallet wrap.

The front of the unit - The Metallic finish is very nice, but there are a lot of fine scratches, which seem to have been done during the building process, and if I was being really picky, there are a few sharp edges, notable the corners of the side panels - Nothing major

There is also a 120mm 240v fan in the front, as well as the red LED temp guage/controller.

A roll of sticky back neoprene.

A bag containing the mounting kit, screws, washers, nuts, wing nuts, a metal backplate and two thick neoprene pads.

A length of armaflex tubing.

The evap head - Slightly rough/scratchy looking (in comparison to a Fuzion Waterblock for example), but appears to be flat.

The retaining clamp - It appears to be made from some kind of plastic, but seems solid enough.

The back of the unit - You can see the 120mm Sanyo Denki 12v fan, which has it's wires poking through the top of the case, so that you can connect it to your PC's power supply.

Pics of the inside to follow later.

It's going to be a few days before I can have a play with this, so I will update this as soon as possible

Turned it on earlier to see how noisy it was.

I'm pleased to say that it isn't too bad. There's no way that I could live with it 24-7 as I like my PC's quiet, but for benching, its not a problem. The noise is more like a whoosh of air from the fan rather than any motor noise.

After a couple of mins, we had frostyness.

After about 7 mins, it was here.

And then..

This seems to be where it tops out, although it did go to -44.5c

Very frosty indeed

I get the impression he doesn't want prices banded around forums, so if you PM me I'll tell you

That looks very nice from what you've shown clunk. Can't wait to see how it performs.
