A few posts back, I mentioned the PLL and SB being linked.

Quote:
Just spoke to DFI, they didn't get my email last week, but anyway.

Regarding the SB Core / CPU PLL voltage.

From what I can gather, the design of their current board made it difficult to split the two circuits so they kept them together, and the two settings are indeed the SB voltage and the CPU PLL voltage.

It seems to work well anyway
1.65v+ is alledgedly enough to start a 65nm on the slippery slope. I found that 1.51v is fine for even a quad. Upping it can provide a bit more stability on higher FSB overclocks, but your CPU will suffer later

Yes thanks I just checked through your test settings again I see your sb/pll and vtt are set very low.

I still dont know if those settings had anything to do with my 45nms dying but its duly noted.
I notice you set the n/b voltage quite high....hmnn a lesson learned maybe.
maybe I did have something to do with the chips early demise

I should have a qx back on wednesday so hey ho

NB voltage bump was only needed for higher FSB (490+). For the Q6600 stable clocks on the 3rd page of the review, all the settings were at stock barring the vcore and memory timings/voltages.

reply from Scan today, to my question when they would get DFI in stock:

"We should hopefully be getting them in stock within the next 1-2 weeks time.

Fingers crossed eh?

It's odd that they list old ones like that, but not the X38

All the X48 boards are listed though, and the prices look ok, when you compare to the likes of Asus
