i'd set 1.50v in the bios and it would readout at 1.52v in windows using Cpuz, which i believe is fairly accurate....i think i measured from the board and it was almost spot on with Cpuz and i think, Smart Guardian.

I get the same. On the dfi x38 is the option in bios, 'clockgen control' the pll volts? im assuming it is, advise please

btw, back to the e8400 diode issue, when I sent it back to the retailer, they phoned me while testing it, they said, quote; "Sir, good news! your cpu is fine, it shows 3c in bios, my reply; are you sure? thats not right? retaiuler; yes sir this is a very good cpu on the stock iontel cooler, those temps are very good"

My reply, what does core temp say? retailer; whats that sir?
my reply, well basically 3c is not possible, unless your testing in an igloo.
retailer, well the cpu is fine sir we will send it back out to you.
me, ok.........drrrrrrrrrrrrrr

SBCore / CPU PLL voltage is the thing you are looking for

Careful with high PLL voltage though, it is an easy way to hurt a CPU and very quickly!

what value are you talking about for CPU PLL that would hurt the CPU?

you see, your retailer knows that freaking Intel (i want to use a word worse than freaking!) won't accept a RMA for temp sensor out of whack...it's a bunch of bull on Intel's part for not treating this problem like it is a warranty problem.

I've read differing values on this, but the rule of thumb seems to be to avoid going over 1.65v-1.7v. I think that this is what degraded my G0 so fast, and it certainly does fit in with how it gradually kicked the bucket

Also, on the current G0, no increase in PLL is needed for those max stable clocks. Maybe for very high FSB it could come in handy.

i thought/heard going over 1.4v had no advantage to it...maintaining a low or moderate CPU GTLREF and a CPU VTT(PLL) below 1.4 was ideal.

I'm on about CPU PLL not VTT

The VTT + GTL ref thing is all relative to your specific CPU (Old g0 liked tweakage, current one doesn't need any). I didn't need to touch the VTT or GTLref for any of the clocks on the new G0.

i thought they were the same on this board...are you referring to that FSB PLL voltage adjustment?

There's SB Core/CPU PLL Voltage (Which is what I'm on about), and then you have the CPU VTT which is what you mentioned earlier.

I can't remember, but isn't the FSB PLL an Abit setting?
