I know the last 4 mins of the test are just monitoring, so it's even more annoying that it's around a minute to go when it fails.

Has anyone seen this before? Tried upping the vcore, and all the usual suspects but no go.
what happens if you change (lower) the FSB by 5 or 10 mhz?

I fixed it by reinstalling to another folder and using the new exe.

I've just dropped from 1.525v back to 1.475, which is where I was before the problem started I think

I have a feeling that this happened because I have got into the habit of not shutting down windows when benching, I just use the onboard reset switch, and I've been doing this since the dreaded Abit IX38 QuadGT which didn't like to restart much So, ultimately, it's all Abit's fault

Sometimes Although the QuadGT did drain most of the patience I had

I think I've hit a brick wall with the E8400 at 4690Mhz shoddy.

It's been a while since I used the Maximus, and at the time, the BIOS wasn't great, I'm not sure how it has matured either.

I can give you what I consider to be plus points for the DFI;

The BIOS is awesome, and there are tweaks for pretty much everything.
The build quality is fantastic.
The layout is great.
The bundle of stuff is very good.
Onboard cooling is excellent.
Runs pretty cool.

Theres more, but I'll save that for the review
I got a X38-T2R now and so far im liking it. Haven't done any overclocking tough (yet).

The layout sure is great. I'm currently running my 8800GTX in the middle PCI-e port. And its running great.

I like the fact that there is no heatpipe on the board.

But i'm not overwhelmed with the bundle really. I'm not using the rounded cables.
SATA cables are ok, but there are only four of them.
And like with the ABIT IX38 QuadGT there seems something missing. Yes, I mean the brackets with some USB and perhaps Firewire connectors.

I haven't been busy with the BIOS yes. But I have some questions about it.

The board came with the 11/28 BIOS, should I update to the 0111 BIOS?
I'm using 4x 1GB Ballistix Tracer PC2-8500 sticks. How do I get them running at 1066 MHz?
Which BIOS settings should i change. Which memory Divider/Strap? 266/1066 or 333/1066? Perhaps you can enlighten me?

Thanks in advance.

I thought the bundle was fine. The reason that the Abit bundle was so poor, was that it only had four USB sockets & clips missing. The DFI has 6, and while its not a huge amount, it is better than 4

I updated to the 01/11 BIOS and its been ok with a few quirks, but nothing major.

The strap you choose for 1066 will depend on the FSB speed you choose. If you choose 266 for your FSB, you can choose the 266/1066 setting. You'll see that as you raise the FSB, the memory speed rises, so start at 1:1 first, find what FSB your CPU likes, and then adjust the strap setting later.

Have a play around with it, thats the best way of finding out what everything does, and if it doesn't like what you are doing, it'll let you know

Ok, well, might be a while yet, but they will arrive at some point.
