Well ive just upgraded from my t3rs to this and as usual im very impressed!! The only problem i have is all the new bios settings that i dont understand lol. So if i use your bios temp as a starting point and tune my volts to whatever they need be would it be ok? im sure it time i will understand as i go along. Also is there any volt limets i should stay below ie cpu ,vtt nb ect.
Cheers Paul

Ok so ive started to mess about and i have 1333mhz ram so i changed the 133 setting up to 166 and that gives me a 3.330Ghz cpu and allows my ram to run at 1333Mhz . I have not changed any volt settings yet and my cpu volt can be anywhere from 1.02v-1.23v is this ok? and should the volt jump about like this as ive disabled these in the bios.
Set VR Current Limit Max.......: Disabled
Thermal Management Control.....: Disabled
EIST Function..................: Disabled
CxE Function...................: Enabled
Execute Disable Bit............: Disabled
Virtualisation Technology......: Disabled

Ive only been up and running about an hour lol

Hi Paul,
Nice choice mate
Have just added some voltage parameters to the Quick Start Guide Thanks for the reminder

There's no harm in letting the voltage drop as long as it comes up on load. but if you want it steadier see below.
Quote:
CxE Function...................: Enabled
is similar to EIST. so your better disabling that as well. if you want to keep things simple for now while getting a feel for things it's probably easier just to turn off turbo mode .

You can re-enable it later along with EISY etc., and give it a whirl. you'll find it's worth it

I originally copied Clunk's 180 BCLK Auto to see how things compared.
I used almost the same settings on air recently Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 - Test 2

Thanks for the fast responce
Ive just run a quick occt test and passed on auto volts.

Should i leave volts on auto i mean my ram is set to 1.5v but im more concerned about the cpu is it normal to move about from 1.02v idle and 1.25v load and is that normal for my mild oc. Sry for all the questions but im eager to see what she can do...
Thanks Paul

No problem, yes vcore is pretty normal.
Occt with hyperthreading unticked doesn't 100% load your cpu . see Nehalem Stability Testing
So there are two stability levels loading just 4 physical cores with 1 hyperlink each. or loading all 8 hyperlinks. wouldn't get too hung up on it , but it's something to be aware of which is new with these CPUs

Ah i see i guess im not gonna hit that sort of load gaming but it does make a difference as the thread shows. Ive also had to lose my water cooling so im on air now and was hitting 50-57 on the cores .
Thanks for the info ..

No I wouldn't think so it's just a bit new at 1st sight how much extra umph you have.
No probs. Look forward to seeing some more clocks

Just bumped it up to 175 x 20 = 3.5Ghz cpu speed and 1400mhz ram. I tried occt with ht enabled and hit 73 on one core and thought it a good idea to quit. I don`t know if i should buy some better cooling or just think that anything below 80 is safe.

well as we said earlier it's not that regular in real world tasks that every core will have both threads 100% loaded which is where your higher temps came from.
What vcore & Vtt are you running ?
and what cooler ?
