Wonder if on fresh install that drivers are wrong for some reason?
Might be worth loading them from floppy or downloading them from intel ?

Blarg, is it a SATA DVD burner? Try it on the other controller, might be that. I have a Samsung DVD burner and sometimes the board will refuse to post with that connected.

Also, if you have any USB drives hooked up, try unhooking them and see if that fixes anything - the T3eH8 has a known problem with AHCI enabled + external USB drives and some optical drives. There's a beta BIOS to fix this currently, but the final one shouldn't be too long.

Thanks for the tips clunk , first time i installed the os i did it from external samsung dvd drive .

Next time i did it with sata burner (but i had that drive on all the time)

Wonder if it's due to that .

Other than that i had nothing on front panel and on back just mouse and keyboard .

Cheers

Was your disc an Vista x64 SP1 or just the original Vista disc?...My older disc can take a long time but it really does depend on the drives connected, the same disc in a the same Samsung Burner only takes 19 mins to install to an SSD.

I wouldn't worry too much now if everything is running ok

Yeah the install goes fast i mean expanding the files etc only slow thing is the first 2 stages .

Like when the cd loads it shows a screen where you can put like language etc . that one takes 3-5 minutes to show up the language selection or so .

Then after that it goes into "Loading setup ...." another 3-5 mins .

After that is smooth sailing all goes fast .

So what i have is 2 velociraptors hlfs in raid0 and the sata samsung burner .

The vista was sp1 i believe .

Cheers

Yep same as me 1st load up takes ages with the small mouse pointer loading up then after you type the keycode in. Then when it decides to get in to vista install options its all normal and im running vista ultimate 64 with sp1 included.

Have a friend with a c2d with one of the latest boards with same thing as well so maybe it's just some quirk with the windows taking long to recognize everything in the board or something , dunno it's weird how it works nicely just slow in the loading up the install at first

My laptop also does that and that's got an SSD in it, so I think it's pretty normal behaviour for a Vista install.

Can anyone tell me if the turbo mode in the bios option is part of the cpu power save plan ? And is this controled by the "pcu" power control unit and if so do tou use it?
Also custom pc gave the noctua nh-u12p that me and s`shanks are using a good review but it was beaten by the titan fenrir.
