Since I still haven't updated to the F6 from the factory F3, should I try this now, or put F6 on to compare properly?

While all these BIOS updates 'may' provide some real benefits for some... on another forum there's an extreme over-clocker that continues to use a very early BIOS release and has just as good - if not better success than most others on that forum, talking about UD3P and f4 here.

Well on the R the bios have got a little better in terms of memory clocking. Ocing the CPU is no issue at all in any bios.

well, having some issues. LAN seems to break every now and then. at least once when I switched from 60 to 75Hz for my monitor, and while being connected through tightvnc.

also, tightvnc uses way too much cpu. Now I've had this before, and it's usually fixed with a reinstall of either tightvnc or windows itself, and this install is just a temp one anyway, but it's weird anyway.

meanwhile I did some encoding, and it's over twice as fast as my current X2 4850E, so I'm looking forward to having it fully working

, so sorry your on your own with that.
Assume you installed the Lan driver from download or CD ?

Sounds like you've got something to look forward to on the encoding.

I have a build with the GA-EP45-UD3R with E400 and a pair of 1GB ocz2n1066sr2gk RAM.

I can't get this thing Prime stable. Forget prime - at least once a day it locks up.

Can someone tell me what BIOS settings to use? right now, I have the DRAM voltage at 2.1 (that's what it says on the RAM), and everything else auto. I'm really only concerned with stability, not with OC, though if a mild OC is what is needed to have everything play together, i'm not against that, as i'm also not against a mild UNDER clock. I just need it to not lock up every day.

any help would be most appreciated. The first MB was defective, I have replaced the Power supply also. RAM, CPU, MB, all testing o.k. I think it's in the BIOS. I'm on F5. And I'm leary to flash, as the instability + the bios flash on the last board bricked it.

like i said, any help would be greatly helpful.

Have you tried running with a single module, that should give you some stability, enough to flash your bios.
Have you tried upping the vdimm from 2.1v ? Is this your ram ? OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 / 1066MHz / NVIDIA® SLI™-Ready Edition / Dual Channel OCZ2N1066SR2GK it's rated at 2.1~2.3v. The fact that it's Nvidia SLI ready means it's been made with Nvidia 790 or something rather than Intel boards, so a little extra voltage may be required.
