Hey Guys/Gals!

This is my 1st post and I look forward to learning from you all in 1 way or another! I would like to say that I am a proud owner of the Maximus Formula SE, but saddened to know that it is EOL...However I am still happy with it, and would like some advice/help in overclocking it.

I'm getting 44C at idle 51 +/-2 load (CoreTemp 0.95.4) Tj 100C

I've ran the following:

Orthos - no issues encountered
Prime95 - no issues encountered
OCCT - no issues encountered

But I'm having issues with Super PI mod 1.5. This application will just (I dont want to call it a crash as this would make it like it failed the stress) stop working and Vista will close it and look for a fix. I would like to know if this is something with Vista64 or if this is indeed what it does when it crashes..

If I remember more I will post. Below is what I have in terms of hardware:

Q6600 G0
OCZ REAPER 9200 (2X1Gig)
TR120 Extreme
Enermax 720w
Asus 2600XT 256mb
400Gig HDDx1

p.s. Has anyone had issues with the Asus PC Probe giving weird readings? I've had my MB temp shoot up to 137C, but Everest was showing 29C..

TIA for insight!

Edit: I would like to mention that I had 2 instances of PI running. Core 0/1 for 1 instance and Core 2/3 for the other. I'm not sure where I had read that people were testing like that, and not sure if that was the proper way to do it or not. Also, if I have posted this in the wrong section, please go easy on me =P

Yeah, my PC probe occasionally pop up some insane readings once in a while and annoyingly triggers the alarm thing, I think it's normal, doesn't happen that often though.

As for me, I'm on 400FSB for 3.6ghz.

Cpu volt at 1.50
PLL 1.56 (the board seems to overvolt according to bios readings, still scares me a little)
NB Volt: 1.51

All the SB voltage settings fixed at the lowest option avail.

RAM at lowest divider 1:1 of 800mhz, 2.1v (they advertised 2.2 but board seem to overvolt this too), 4-4-4-12 setting as advertised on crucial site.

39oC idle, 69oC on load.

Also using TR120 extreme but I lapped it, (not really perfect job though, 3rd core always at lower temp lol)

NB and SB at 42oC give take 2-3 under load (took out fuzion block and replaced with TR-05 with no fans attached).

Hope it helps.

The Maximus Formula SE has now been discontinued.
While stocks last as they say.
Good riddance I say.
Never had so many issues with a motherboard.

Is this EOL (end of life) a user term or a factory term, also is this because Asus deemed the board bad or because the Maximus Formula (SE) was only a limited edition

As we mentioned before, see last page ,it's a limited edition , the same as the blitz (p35) was.

Got mine pretty much sorted. This one is very stable solid as a rock @3.6 for 24/7 use.
I’m very happy with this one. 

I really don’t understand all this EOL crap floating around when it was understood from day one the board was going to be a “Limited Edition” meaning that one day soon it won’t be available.

Firstly, welcome to the forums

Usually, if superpi crashes, it means that your overclcock is unstable in some way, at least that is how it has been for me.

The specs look good, but that memory uses 2.3-2.4v doesnt it? If it does, you need to set it accordingly if you are having stability problems.

Not sure about the temp thing in probe, it hasnt happened to me, but others seem to have had it happen to them, and I remember it happening on P35 boards as well, so its probably a bug in the software.

This isnt in the wrong section, but it almost got lost in this big thread, so, if you want, I can shift your post and any replies to their own thread in the hardware section
