So it's game over then

Is that the end of it ??

According to scan, yes, they said it was definitely EOL, just like the blitz.

I suspect that they are dumping the x38 in favour of the x48. It seems stupid to keep x38 going when a revised version (x48) is on its way next month (ish).

Not got a link, I was told it over the phone, but I suppose they would have to give you the equivalent board or a better one.

I hear ya, fatty.

Dropping £200 on this board for my Striker to out perform and overclock higher is not how I imagined this going down, let alone to then have the board discontinued so rapidly...

Asus just BETTER keep up decent bios support for it!!!

I've currently got 4x 1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz modules which now won't work at all in any combination. Although they did work fine for a week with all 4 installed.

What have other people got or tried with this board. For now just looking to buy a couple of decent 1GB sticks to get system up and running. Ideally they would need to be stable at 450MHz as I'm still looking at an 8x450 overclock on my Q6600 G0 CPU.

What would people recommend.
Got my new RAM this morning. Went for Corsair XMS2 DDR2 6400C2 (2x1GB) and guess what. Total surprise. Started up without a problem. BIOS recognised the RAM correctly. All settings as expected.

Quick check under load in Windows before upping the numbers and now happy to say I'm running at 400MHz FSB, memory at 800Mhz (2.1V), CPU at 3.6GHz on 9x multipler, and so far, fingers crossed everything is stable.

Not impressed that the motherboard seems to have either -
(a) fried my Crucial Ballistix RAM so that only 1 module out of four works, or
(b) is totally incompatible with my Crucial Ballistix RAM.

Hope its the latter as I am looking to buy a cheaper setup for my daughters PC and hope to re-use the Crucial RAM in that.

Now the BIG question. I have an RMA from Tekheads to return the Maximus motherboard for a full credit. Given that it is now EOL should I take advantage of this?

Asus seems to be doing this now.
In fact It's the 2nd time it's happened.
The p35 Blitz was also a limited SE (special edition) board.
After deciding to move from my p5k Deluxe , I read of the great performance of the blitz especially by Eva by the time i wised up to that , they were gone eol, judging by the posts you see around many others were left the same.
I guess it's a bit like musical chairs, would you rather be left with one or without one when they stop selling

luck
