Theres not much you can do if a board will not overclock well. If it guarantees it on the box, you might have a case, but it's not worth the bother involved.

Just see what works best for you with the programs that you use, it varies widely

Yes Not sure what to say about the fluctuation, theres always going to be some when you run the board right out of spec. Might be worth contacting Asus directly

Dunno mate..whatever works for your system. That was just a rough idea as to what to try first for someone that doesnt really know what they are doing.

I left them at stock, in fact the transaction booster just stops me from posting. The AI clock twister just increases the RAM bandwidth slightly, so no need for it really.

Question Should I jump?

Clunk,

First of thanks for the review - an absolute godsend for people like me!

I've had an MSI 975X PUE for the past year, and had lots of problems with it, especially with getting RAM running properly. I was looking to upgrade to X38, but i'm a bit worried by the problems people are having with 4 sticks as i'm wanting to run 4x1gb Corsair 8500. Do you think these will be eradicated as the bios matures, or are they a quality control issue?

From other forums the P5E is reported as being more stable with 4gb of RAM - which way would you jump?

Thanks again for all the work.

Welcome to the forums

I havent used a P5E, but they are essentially the same board as the maximus with a few features missing.

As things stand, I would still recommend a P35 board unless you really need the extra 16x PCI-E slot.

By the way, I had the same board as you, for about 6 hours
