if the maximus is anything like my striker, sometimes when i am overclocking, if i do not reset to defaults before changing ram amounts, it requires that i reset the bios by flipping the cmos switch for a min to let the settings reset to defaults, then it will boot, and u have to go back into the bios and re-set up your settings.

Default Loadline Calibration

Seems Loadline Calibration is the maximus equivalent of CPU Voltage Damper on the P5K. However it doesn't seem to work in either of the available bios. ASUS Maximus Formula SE : Complete Test : CPU, Memory, 3D including Max FSB and - Rim post #

Ah thanks for the clarification.

You mentioned getting 510 FSB on the P5K-Dlx. In your opinion, as of NOW, which board is better for OCing (stable, Q6600), the P5K-Deluxe or the Maximus Formula SE? How far did you OC with the P5K?

Mine is giving me all sorts of problems with the RAM, and it has killed one set and I think the second set is on it's way out.

If it's any consolation, the syptoms are the same as yours. The only way I can get it to start is to either unplug the PSU, or turn the PSU switch off for a few seconds.

This is all too much like the commando in every way - fugly!

Lets hope they come up with a decent BIOS in the next few days.

Something for you to try, and see if yours does the same as mine...

400x9 (with whatever voltage you need) 5-5-5-15 800Mhz (stock volts for your ram) = stable for me.

Then go into the bios and change to;

400x9 (with whatever voltage you need) 4-4-4-12 800Mhz (whatever voltage you need) - will it boot? Mine wont

Yet, it will boot with 3-3-3-3.

Also, get to windows with some moderately safe settings, then press the reset button on your PC...mine then doesnt post and has to have the PSU reset.

Normally, I would suspect the PSU to be the cuplrit here, but I've just tried a Seasonic S12 and that is the same.

Ah well, onwards and upwards!

P.S. have you tried changing the RAM to different slots? I found that the white ones gave prettier BSODs

Oops, sorry, missed this one

Right now, the P5K Deluxe is a better overclocker.

They both hit around the same max overclock for me, which is 467x9 (Maximus needs much more voltage), but the Maximus will not go any higher than that for me really. It will almost boot to windows at 490x7, but is very very flakey.

Added a few more bits and some CPU-Z validations.
