Just about ran out of patience with this motherboard (Maximum SE).
Straight out the box it ran for a week with no problems at all (0502
BIOS) with 4x 1GB sticks of Crucial Ballistix 6400
RAM (4-4-4-12), Q6600 G0 (3.6GHz, 8*450Mhz), etc. Then last weekend I reboot PC and it just stops at the
DRAM POST check. Only way I can get it running again is with a single 1GB stick and a full
CMOS clear. I get back up and running and then the system lets me boot with 2x 1GB stickss (but still not all 4). Everything fine for the last 3 days then bang, system restart, stuck at
DRAM test. I clear the
CMOS, go back to 1x stick of
RAM and I'm back up and running again except now it won't let me install the 2nd stick of
RAM so I've only got 1GB total (and 3GB sat on my desk). 0602
BIOS makes no difference at all.
I know people keep saying that Asus will eventually sort out a decent
BIOS which might solve these problems but I really want this resolved now.
Has anyone got any real advice - apart from RMA'ing the board that is.
Has anyone RMA'ed their board and bought a different X38 board.
