I believe that most people have the G0 stepping if you are referring to the quad. That's what I have, and that is what Clunk is testing on now IIRC as his B3 didn't want to OC very well. Also, I think you meant B3 instead of G3. :-)

If my memory serves me correctly, you can tell the two apart on the retail box (or on the CPU chip itself if your heatsink isn't installed) by looking for the following codes. Of course, if you already have one, running CPU-z is probably the easiest way as it will tell you B3 or G0 stepping without you having to interpret the codes.

Basically the product code (or one of the numbers on the box) ends in one of the following combinations. The G0 is the one that seems to OC better for most/all people. :-)

SLACR = G0 stepping
vs
SL9UM = B3 stepping

And to the guy about the Asus site running better when the US sleeps...
Sorry. :-) There are a lot of us techno nerds here. Hehehe

DDR2 800MHz at low latency timing of 3-3-3-10 at 2.3-2.35V.

This should give me 400MHz actual; The XQ6850 CPU is rated at 1333 FSU 333 MHz actual, The specs on it are 1.0 -1.372 V., and I beleve at 1.372 I may be able to get 400MHz. I am afraid to push it, this baby cost me 1,024 USD.

What do you think ? Am I a chiken shit ?:

Oh Sorry, By the way, thanks for your prompt repply.
Those are really high voltages for 800Mhz 3-3-3-10. Trust me, RAM that uses voltages that high, doesnt last very long

It's the stepping for the CPU - like a model revision kind of thing, with G0 being the latest, and coolest running.

Thank you for your prompt responce, and thank you for explayning to me what you guys where talking about with referance to G0.

Building my unit will be my X-Mass present to me this year, and if God be willing I will have all the money by then to get everything. I am counting on my X-Mass bonus check from work for the final items.

I plan to use the QX6850 along with the Maximus Formula SE and 4G of Kingston Hyper X.

I will be using two kits of dual channel mem (2) (2x1G) kits.
(2) KHX6400D2ULK2/2G
JEDEC standard latency 800Mhz timing of 5-5-5-15 at 1.8V.
DDR2 800MHz at low latency timing of 3-3-3-10 at 2.3-2.35V.

I think this should give me 400MHz actual on the mem; The XQ6850 CPU is rated at 1333 FSU 333 MHz actual, The voltage specs on it are 1.1-1.372 V., and I beleve at 1.372 I may be able to get 400MHz. fsb I am afraid to push it, this baby cost me 1,024US$. What I want to do is mach the FSB frequency to the mem's 400MHZ, got any tips, well more than tips, can you tell me how, this is my first project.

I plan to poot this in a GIGABYTE 3D Mercury GZ-FW1CA-AJB Black Aluminum ATX Full Tower that has an incorporated water cooling system, I will also instal (1) ATI DIAMOND 2900XT1GPE, and (2) Western Digital
Raptor X WD1500AHFDRTL, powered by (1) Thermaltake Toughpower W0156RU ATX12V / EPS12V 1200W.

I am hoping this baby will run like a champ because its costing me around the area of 3400$ and I will fall into a deep state of deprecion if it doesent work right because of the board problems I have been seeing on this thread.

Please pray for me, and please let me know what you recomend with referace to the 400MHz mach.

Thank you in advance Jorgito
