:-) So are you just placing it down flat across the top of the RAM (parallel to the mobo), or are you positoning at one end and blowing air out to the other end (air flow parallel to the mobo moving through the "canyons" between the 4 chips?
If mounted parallel with the airflow perpendicular to the mobo, do you have the fan blowing down onto the RAM or away from the mobo? Blowing down will get better flow over the chips I would think, and I doubt they get hot enough to negatively impact the motherboard (by blowing hot air down onto it).

Yep, the fan just needs to be flat against the RAM, or if its a bigger fan, maybe slightly further away to avoid a dead spot.
It neednt be complicated, it doesnt need to exactly straight, or at any particular angle. You'll find that pretty much however you do it, you will get a good breeze accross all the RAM

I tell you as strage as it may sound, I think I'm gouing to stick with the;
KHX6400D2ULK2/2G
JEDEC standard latency 800Mhz timing of 5-5-5-15 at 1.8V.
DDR2 800MHz at low latency timing of 3-3-3-10 at 2.3-2.35V.
This should give me 400MHz actual; The XQ6850 CPU is rated at 1333 FSU 333 MHz actual, The specs on it are 1.0 -1.372 V., and I beleve at 1.372 I may be able to get 400MHz. I am afraid to push it, this baby cost me 1,024 USD.
What do you think ? Am I a chiken shit ?:
Oh Sorry, By the way, thanks for your prompt repply.

You can buy dedicated RAM coolers, but using a small fan is a cheap and effective way of doing it

I was running them on 800mhz CL5, on 2.0V. I've ran the test again for 8-9 hours on stock speeds with 0 error's .

Well mine's in and running, it's a little quirky this board ain't it, I've updated the bios to the 0505 version but have'nt had time to start playing yet.
My ram voltage is set in bios at 2.2 but in the asus probe it show's 2.9 lol. I think a few of you had this problem as well, does anyone have a work around.
I found it a little strange in the way it boot's on/off/on but stock speed is good on unzipping which is about all I had time for last night.
Is it just me or is the asus site got a really 5hitty connection I couldn't get on there last night it kept telling me it was full!!!!!

Yeah the board can be a little funny, and yes the ASUS site is known for having 5hitty connections my friend was trying to download something last night and it kept loosing the connection.
I can't seem to get any PCIe x1 eSATA add in cards to work properly with this board it really annoys me that they didn't include a ESata connection

Yes the lack of esata ports is a bummer as i need one for when getting data off discs for people

0602 BIOS and USB devices, I installed the new BIOS yesterday, but why the system boots, it would not detect any of my USB devices (hung at detection), if I over-clocked the CPU (or just set it to manual). Switching back to 0505 fixed the problem right away, so I believe it was the BIOS that was at fault. Since it could not detect my USB devices I was unable to do more than go to BIOS with this version.
