Havent tried the other mem slots yet only tried the blue ones so will give that a try tonight, also using the standard fusion block at the moment and on the previous two i used a swiftech mcw30 nb cooler so might give that a go aswell
Welcome to the forums

I think we are all a little bit disappointed, but lets hope they give us a stable BIOS in the next few days, if it makes it able to overclock as good as my P5K, it will be worth the money.

I've seen pics of the Swiftech block on the NB and it seems to fit well

It's possible that asus has either cocked up the spd/epp reading thing or be using a value that's too tight.

I usually manually set them on my p5k

works fine on my ballistix 8500 up to 1200 try increasing trfc to 35 to help stability if needed.

Other thing have you disabled transaction booster, some one on extreme mentioned that.
I too think that maybe it is not very good to trust the AUTO settings that ASUS offers. I noticed that when I tried to run my PC-8500 at 1066, the blitz board I have actually set the NB volt to 1.5V  and here I thought maybe it will be more like 1.3V or something...

I also wonder about the memory settings that ASUS auto sets, but I don't want to risk booting into windows with my setup I am esp. curious about the whole FSB strapping business, what is that all about anyway? Isn't it just a divider between the FSB and the mem freq?

I wish there is a good document on what each and every one of the memory settings that these boards actually do...

Checked all four sticks of Ballistix in an Abit IP35 and they worked fine (phew). Tried some Geil Black Dragon stuff in the Maximus but same result with it failing to post LCD Poster showing DET DRAM. Left it unplugged overnight with the battery out but same result.

Declaring death for this board, packaged up to RMA (anyone with experience RMA'ing via Novatech?).

Wish I knew what killed it. When the replacement arrives I might hold off instaling until the next BIOS release.

Yes, this is really weird.

My "dead" sticks that wont work in the maximus, now work fine in the P5K I mean, I have seen some weird memory problems, but this is possibly the weirdest.

We need a new BIOS and fast

Good luck with your RMA.

@clunk
I think hornet's asking for your reciommended settings, I would guess from your 3.6 12hr prime.
Have you been using auto settings for sub timings??

Ah, ok, well I'll try it now and see what happens...

Yes, auto for the subtimings. One thing i cant fault this board on is the memory clocking...although I havent tried any long term stability testing yet.

Interesting, what ICs do those Xms2 use? I am suspecting that maybe only select micron ICs don't like that setting.

Hornet's suggestion
Makes more sense

Re Transaction booster Hence it may just be worth disabling it , if just to take it out of the equation
