I've got BRAINWAVE, doesn't happen to much .

The speed of the cpu/fsb has to be an equivalent of 1333mhz which is the default value for the fsb and memory.
In other words: the divider is the troublemaker and I can't figure out how the divider works, mathematics wasn't my favorite.

How to reach this:
Set in the bios the fsb to unlinked and the memory to 1333mhz, it is verry important memory to 1333mhz!!
Then raise the fsb untill you reach an point where the memory is again 1333mhz, for instance 1666mhz will give an memory speed of 1333mhz.
You can do all of this in the bios, don't need to start windows to see what is happening. Of course for testing you have to start windows and fire up for instance Prime95.
Try this untill you reach an point where your system will crash.
At the end set the fsb to linked and sync, watch out for the maximum speed of the memory, startup Prime95 for testing and voila!!

Has reach with an Q9450 3,4 ghz (2667mhz) and memory 1666mhz (1600mhz) all settings on 'auto' or standard values except the voltage, cpu 1.250=1.20/2 and memory 1.74=1.81/2.

Well, I hope you solved it to your expectations. And as for the next MB, I'm definitely taking Clunk's advice. DO NOT GET NVIDIA CHIPSETS. hehe. Just figured I'd post a further notice, that after that grueling month of work, the setup is still peachy to this day (with only the occasional windows lockup, which is pretty standard stuff).

I also did some serious rendering with the OC speeds, (Cinema4D w v-ray) and it performed admirably. Thanks again for all that help back then ... It would have been impossible without clunk's forums!!!

P.S.- and yes, the chipset will only support 2x 1600 mhz mem speeds ... if using 4 sticks, you're doomed to 1333 mhz.

Nvidia haven't ever made a good Intel chipset as far as I can remember...At least when X58 becomes more mainstream and affordable, you can jump ship to that and still keep your SLI set ups

Glad we've been of use

Just received the new memory which I rma'd because Corsair..........., yes CORSAIR, managed to label the sticks DDR3 1600mhz and in real one stick is DDR3 1333mhz with the according spd and timings!!
Corsair is playing deaf in this matter, has given up to mail to them or to reply to them.

But... that's why I replyed overhere, the system with the new memory is 'flying'!

Managed the following oc:
Q9450 @ 1600mhz= 3360mhz voltage 1.20
Corsair TW3X4G1600C9DHX (2x2=4GB) 1800mhz, voltage 1.84= in real 1.90
Motherboard Striker II Extreme.
Yes, has run Prime95 X64 for several hours.

Probably, no...., I am sure that the processor could reach higher speeds but I am satisfied for now.

Conclusion: Everywhere on the internet I read complaints concerning oc'ing and memory (DDR3) and as far as I understand it is an fact that at the end the memory by all claiments was the trouble maker.
For me it is an fact that EVERY memory manfacturer has troubles with DDR3, had the same outcome with OCZ!
You may also say that the memory manyfacturers are forced to produce DDR3 memory by Intel/Nvidia (AMD is still at DDR2) but they ain't ready for it or it doesn't has their interest because DDR2 is still the main market with the big profits.

I have also overhere an
Striker II Extreme
QX9770 (on air 3,7ghz)
Buffalo 2 x 2GB DDR3 (running at 2000mhz). Why Buffalo? Just an credit crisis matter, the price: paid overhere in the Netherlands €119 ($135).
All other brands are between €200-300.
System is Prime stable for 18hrs!

WC is installed, just waiting when the motherboard is returned from RMA (the thermal glue of the Mosfets cooling was loosening).
Wonders how far I can push the QX9770 with WC.....

Question: I know that Buffalo is an respectable brand in Japan and because of the troubles on the ram-market (overproduction- low prices) they are, I pressume, dumping the memory on the other markets outside Japan.
Does anybody has seen an review of Buffalo ddr3 memory on the net? Esspecially DDR3 1800mhz.
Even on the Buffalo site there is no information.

Further news on the Striker II Extreme. I figured I'd post here, to try and kep the specific SIIE topic as helpful to others as possible.

A few days ago, out of nowhere, the network adapter, USB ports and the Sound card stopped working in the middle of a session. After a few resets, nothing changed. No USB, no Newtork and no sound.

I looked up some forums, and discovered hat the chipset has some issues with these things, and that I'm actually one lucky owner for it to have happened almost 10 months into board use.

Supposedly, one has to unplug the computer for a few mins to get the CMOS to 'adjust itself' or smth like that. It turns out that the advice was sound despite it's mystery. All the peripheral components came back on line after the rig being unplugged for a few minutes ...

Also on a further notice, the last couple of months, I've been getting a few BSOD's while playing the MMO WAR for no apparent reason. They actually started forming a pattern. When I turned the machine on, and started WAR, the computer would crash with a BSOD. Upon a reset, the same thing happened. On the third try, everything worked fine. I actually had to go through the whole procedure (the 2x reboot) a fair number of tries. Why post here? Well, it turns out, that WAR is a unoptimised app in regards to mem management (and this could happen on any number different apps!). It uses just about under 2gb of Vram under my settings. As a result, my 32 bit XP had trouble dealing with the access to the excess of memory (4GB sys ram, 896MB GFX ram), that the game wanted to address, but the OS had problems with due to 32 bit mem-adress limitations.

As it stands, I will be installing Windows 7 RC 64 bit and will post here, how I get along. Been reading these boards for W7 install advice, and I'm pretty confident things should work without issues (HAHAHA )

Raise the voltage of the southbridge, thats the evil one

Had set it to 1.60 but infortunally for the fifth time the Striker II Extreme is send RMA, nothing to do with the Southbridge, thats for sure. By me it is the Northbridge which everytime is faulty in concordeance with an QX9770 (1600 fsb)

Its an gamble to find an Striker II Extreme mobo which will flawlessy work!
Asus has lowered their QVL list for the memory to....................... you may guess.................... guess again............................ 1333mhz for EVERY manufacturer so I suppose that overclocking isn't supported anymore by Asus, but they are still selling this shit!
