    4A89GTD Pro/USB3 - Testing 24/7 Settings

    X2 550 C3 @ 200x15.5, 4GB Memory @ 1600MHz

Initial configuration with the board. Mostly stock settings to test 1600MHz rated memory. Also ran a couple of 3dMark benchmarks using onboard graphics. True 120 with stock fan. No other onboard cooling used.

    ASUS 4A89GTD Pro/USB3, 0402 BIOS
    Phenom II X2 550 C3
    2x2GB OCZ Platinum AMD Edition (OCZ3P1600LVAM4GK) PC3-12800 1600MHz 7-7-7-24
    200x15.5, Memory 1600MHz 7-7-7-24
    OCZ 100GB Vertex LE100
OCZ 1000WProXStream - 4 Rail Modified To Single Rail

    X2 550 C3 @ 200x15.5 (All Cores Unlocked), 4GB Memory @ 1600MHz

Pretty much the same setup as posted above. All 4 cores unlocked using the "ASUS Core Unlocker" setting in the BIOS. The onboard switch or pressing the "4" key on the keyboard during post works equally well. Once the cores are unlocked BIOS default settings need to be loaded to revert back to the stock number of cores. Also threw in a couple of 4870 Crossfire benches.

Someone's been busy I see Nice work John. Looks like ASUS/AMD hit a home run with this one. $140 board + $90 proc + $120 memory kit = $350 for 4ghz quad core gaming goodness.

Thanks James. I've really been having fun with this setup. As you've noted it's hard to beat for the amount of money one would need to invest. A couple of more setting to try to hit and then will see what a BE CPU can do.

Looks interesting John, Chris has the Gigabyte 890 board on the way I think, so should be able to compare notes.

I notice you've kept the memory speed down, will these things run faster memory?

I've been trying to keep settings closer to what I think most users will be going for. I'll get some higher memory speed stuff posted up. From what I've heard the Gigabyte needs a true quad core as it isn't able to unlock deactivated cores.
