Default 350...

Results are in.

I'm going out soon so Ive stopped this test earlier than the 12hours intended and had it running for about 6.5;

As Kelainefes recommended I will use burn test until i get to about 4ghz. Just for speeds sake.

1 question. At what point to I stop increasing my FSB? When it wont work anymore or should I aim for a set number before i start with Volting?

Scrap that... I cant get burn test to work. Think it only likes 64bit OS. So I Got OCCT instead. 1 Hour in Linpack Mode At 375FSB coming tomorrow.

In the mean time. If anybody sees any fault with my mobo settings as before. Please let me know. Ive only altered my CPU Clock so far.

you wont need 1 hour of linpack... it will get to higher temp than hours of Prime95 in like 5-6 minutes..

And you go up with the FSB as long as it's stable, then you may consider raising the Vcore and the NB voltage...

I dont know how the "Special add" works but I would set the Vcore manually also if at default, and also i'll disable the "special add"... but i can be wrong, since i dont own that board XD

As he says, 1 hour of Linpack test is really too much, I think you can go with less than 10 minutes at first unless you need to work with the PC right after the test. But since you'll just clock it higher, a few minutes will suffice right now.

I like to leave vCore on auto and then increase the Special add as tha twill allow your power saving functions, if and when enabled, to change the CPU voltage together with the clock. If you wanna use the Special add, you must disable the Special add limit option in the BIOS.

I disabled my special add limiter thanks for that tip there. Left the CPU VID Control at auto though. Thought it was best until my FSB became unstable.

Im going to class unstable at above 60 degrees. As clunk mentioned you should only take your CPU to a temp your happy with and 60+ seems like a lot for day in day out use. However, if you guys know something about an E8500 that I don't feel free to jump in and let me know.

I have the latest results from by 10 min burn test; See below.

Max Temp was 53. Your quite right; OCCT does get your temps a whole lot higher. Still I'm technically stable at 375. Now for the big 400...

Default Uh Oh...

Just when it was going so well.

I upped my FSB to 400 from 375 and after about 2 mins under load OCCT cancelled the test. Which was great, but it didn't tell me what was wrong. So being me; I restarted the test and then my comp locked.

Reset it and downed my FSB to 375 and re-ran my burn test. I'm guessing this is the point where I have to increase my Vcore but how much do i need to increase it by? Is there a set algorithm for this or do I just go for the next available increment? If it helps Ive put up a screeny from OCCT just before i finished the testing at 375 that can be seen below;

Let me know what you guys think. I must say i'm a little dissapointed that i couldnt go to 400fsb before I had this problem but meh

Edit: Whoops, wrong pic...

OCCT always gets my temps right, what program are you using, Coretemp?

dont worry, you can try upping the NB voltage a bit (let's say 1.3 V) and try again at 400Mhz

Maybe it's the NB that cant make it, if not try with the CPU special add not much i'd say max 0.05 V for now

On DFI LT and UT boards the special add uses % units not millivolts.
Try and see where 102% takes you.
