To be honest though, I've not found any real reason to do it that way, if you read back a bit in theis thread, i've explained to someone already about why they shouldn't worry about getting their memory speed exact and to concentrate more on the CPU as this is where the performance is.

True i was playing about to see what i could do as both my overclocks where close but this is still a new board for me i only got it thursday so plenty of playtime left yet lol.

Sixth sense? I wish . No this is biased on assumption. An idd, i really need to try it out first ;x.
But what dont work: I did the first guide, so I can get it to 3.6. And when i was finished, and i tried to reboot, the settings where reverted and changed back to the default clocks. When i look in the bios, it says: bad overclock, changed back to default settings. .

The guide of gigabyte works, but i really want to fine tune it, like you did .

After abit of playing ive managed to get the following.

I still haven't gone for the 4 ghz. I am a little scared.

Is it possible to fry or destroy my core i7 by going for 4 ghz? What is the worst thing that could happen?

Also what is this for: QPI/DRAM Core Voltage - 1.3v

Overclocking always carries a risk, please read the disclaimer at the start of the guide. In this guide, we are using low voltage and relatively moderate overclocks. As long as you keep an eye on those temps and keep the voltage within the limits the are laid out in the guide, you *should* be OK.

The main damage comes when the CPU is exposed to very high levels of voltage for long periods of time, and that's something that we don't do in this guide.

QPI/DRAM Core Voltage - That's your memory controller voltage.

Ive shaved a tad of my vcore and passed and what a difference it makes reg core temp at 1.3 i was hitting 67-72 in occt and with it now at 1.28 i never went passed 64 sweet

Many people get a 7.9 rating windows 7 windows experience. I only get a 7.8. Does this mean my memory can be defected and what should I do to raise my memory performance to hit 7.9 rating?
