Hows your air flow and do you have two 120mm fans on your cooler in pull push? I idle at about 37-40 and hit between 65-70 when testing but that was with the side removed and my desk fan blowing in to the case. You have to remember that your never gonna hit 100% usage on all cores in 24/7 use so you should be fine its only when testing your oc you get high temps.

I have the two 120mm fans in pull push setup. My case has a top exhaust fan (230mm) that I can't find the molex for. Going to hunt for that later. That will help get rid of hot air and it sits right over the CPU and HS.

I thought i was almost there to get to 3.8GHz, but after 4 hours and 13 min LinX finished with an error ffs >_<. But no reboot or BSOD! The bold elements, are teh things i changed. So what do you guys/girls think it is? Is it ok if change only the Uncore Freq. to x12 or do i need to alter the voltage? Because this is the first time it didnt reboot or gave me an BSOD, so i thought the voltage are alright?

To be perfectly honest, 4 hours of Linpack is as stable as most people could want. When I use linpack, just 30 mins to an hour is usually enough.

Also, after 4 hours, it may just be a heat issue as the room temp builds up from the heat from the PC. You could try running the same test again with the same settings but with a desk fan blowing in the side of the case and see how it does, if there's no errors, that should point to an overheating issue somewhere.

what software do you recommened to check if my 3.8 overclock is stable?

right now i have prime 95 and intel burn test. any other one i should download?

Prime95 is fine for stress testing, as are OCCT and LinX.

Just use one of them and stick to it. If you use LinX, you may find that you need to work a bit harder to get stable.

Just run occt for an hour and you should be fine plus occt includes linpack if you want to use that to test .
