Default A new begining....

Hello everyone and thanks for a F.A.B. forum..!
New guy here with this rig :

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Extreme CPU Q6850 @ 3.00GHz

ATI sapphire toxic Radeon HD 4870 1024MB

8GB Geil black dragon 1066mHz ram

2 X 150GB Raptors

asus maximus formula special edition motherboard

THERMALTAKE BLUE ORB II cooling in a NZXT blackline blue case

ANTEC TRUEPOWER QUATTRO 850W

I have never overclocked anything and i am wondering where to start ? and if somebody else out there had a similar rig and to let me know on what FSBRAM ratios you managed. And also your opinion on what my system would be capable of and what would be the best areas to overclock?
Many thanks

Welcome to the forums

If you are completely new to overclocking, then I'd suggest that reading the guides in my sig would be a good place to start. They were written using different boards but the principle is the same and many of the settings have the same name.

Have a read and see if it all makes sense, if not, come back and we'll see what we can do

P.S please add your system specs to your profile...click the green link in my sig for details.

Hello. Welcome to the forum.

Please add your system specs to your profile using the guide in my sig.

Have you had a look through the Beginners OC guide for C2D yet?

If so post a BIOS template of all your settings, i think this one will work:
Overclocking Templates / BIOS Templates

Sry no, just copy and past the template into a new post in this thread populated with all your current values. You should not need word. Might be easier if you have a laptop to make the posts here and use your PC to read the BIOS values. Otherwise use a bit of paper. Bit of a pain 1st time around but it will result in more accuracy and you will know nothing has been missed.
