Exclamation i7 D0 overclocking help!

Hello,

I've overclocked my CPU to 3.7 Ghz with Bclock of 195 and multiplier of 19. I'm not sure if these are stable, but I'm currently running Prime95 test and I want to make sure that these are the most minimum voltages required or if I can still push the overclock further with these voltages.

CPU PLL 1.80
DRAM 1.64 @ 1555 Mhz Patriot Viper 1600Mhz 6GB kit
CPU vCore 1.25 in BIOS
QPI/DRAM 1.25 in BIOS

if anyone was able to push his i7 beyond 3.7 with these volts then please share ^_^

Thanks!

Hello and welcome.
Can you fill out your systems specs in your profile using the guide in my sig.
Once we see what components you are using we should be able to offer some help.

Alright done ^_^

I've been running Prime95 for almost 4 hours and it seems to be ok. chip is running at 79-80 degrees under load and 37-38 idle. I know its fine as long as it's under 85 degrees, but I want to decrease temp more and maintain an optimum voltage!

Thanks ^_^

Am I just not seeing what motherboard is being used or is it not listed?

Hi, as was asked, you need to click the link in affiliate13's sig and fill in your spec details there.

Just to let you know, mine runs at 3,900mhz on 1.25v. Mine is watercooled though.
You don't mention your motherboard. It will ask you all that in the spec link.
Once we have more details from you, we should be able to guide you better.

**Edit** see you have followed the link - too slow, lol

I'm at work currently so will give you better details later if you should want them.

From memory, with 1.25v on the cpu: I left turbo enabled and was able to get a 21x multiplier and a BClock of 186 (3,906mhz). I have found that to get the highest overall speed on mine, with a low voltage, I do need to use the 21x multi.
Been a bit busy of recent and haven't had chance to tinker much.

I do know that mine will also boot and run at 191x21, around 1.25v, but I haven't had chance to test the stability. I am pretty sure that the other voltages I have used are around the default (I'll confirm later).

You need to keep an eye on the uncore speed. This will help stability when overclocking. Don't leave this on auto. My DO won't run stable if the uncore speed is above 4000.
I start off my overclocks with the uncore speed set to a multiplier of (the ram speed x 2)+1. Eg. On one of my overclocks I have my ram running at 1,680mhz. I set the uncore to the next one up from 3360 which is 3600. Eventually I was able to up the uncore to 3990mhz and not affect stability.

Thanks for replying! ^_^

my QPI is 3509 to be precise, and my voltage, which is actually 1.2500, goes up to 1.256 underload.

now it's been 5 hours that Prime95 is running. Can I assume it's stable or?

Thanks again!

I'll be honest, stable is a personal thing.

If it runs perfectly for you and you are happy, then I'd say yes. I would be happy with 5hrs on prime. Not often I am ever likely to run my machine at full load for 5 hours.
I would try a few other benches, different benches stress different things. I've had overclocks run for hours on prime only to crash out on 3DMark06 for example. Why not try the WPrime32 and Nuclear tests that you can find in the threads in this overclocking section?

Nice system btw.

Hello again

now I'm confused. My QPI/DRAM voltage in the BIOS is set as 1.25, but when I launch Asus TurboV it says my QPI voltage is 1.385....

Is there another program that calculates the QPI voltage? I want to make sure which one is right..

haha thanks, but I can see yours is even nicer!
