Unclewebb has done some great work with the Wolfdale's in helping us understand the temperature issues. see Reading the CPU Temp Values He's now released a program RealTemp For 45nm CPU's the TjMax is more accurate than Coretemp , using 95C instead of the 105C used by Coretemp, so correctly reporting 10C cooler.

There is also a guide and option to calibrate your Idle temps. see Real Temp - Documentation

Current Version is 3.0

As you can see settings can be easily access and set see the Documentation link above for more info.

I'd say this is a better option certainly for 45nm users than Coretemp at the minute as it get the temps right out the box.

Memtest HCI

This is where I've found this memtest tool particularly useful. It runs within windows & checks available memory.
Memtest86+ v Memtest HCI

!st Run

Depending on what memory you have installed it's usual to run with 2 instances in order to grab windows's ram.
Running with 2 instances & errors
Unlike when running Prime95 you'll find it very slow to try browsing etc., . I find it best to run overnight or for a few hours when I'll be a way from the PC.

Usage
Like Prime95 the longer it runs eror free the lower the probability of errors.
it works in % coverage
100% coverage (a quick test to make sure your RAM is functioning reasonably)
Test for 1 hour (detects the majority of memory errors)
Test overnight (this will catch virtually all errors in your memory)

Memtest86+ v Memtest HCI
Neither is perfect , it's as well to understand the weaknesses.

Memtest86+
Strength:-
Tests nearly all memory as it runs in it's own environment, using much less ram than windows

Wide variety of tests but :-
Weakness
Doesn't test memory as it is used in windows. Only tests 5 & 8 come close to emulating windows operation. This often means that you can pass this memtest86+ but still have issues in windows.

Memtest HCI
Strength:-
Runs in window so no no issues with emulation of windows memory usage, complements 86+ weakness.
Weakness
Only tests windows free memory - The full version will run outside the OS , like 86+, though in fairness it isn't that dear.

Only by running both for longish periods do you get comfort that memory is ok.

'86 is useful for a quick & dirty test when say trying to find optimum ram voltage and timings. I use test#5 for this , start with a low voltage & keep upping voltage till test#5 runs ok. Test Timings by running test#8.

Running HCI for a while after '86 #5 & #8 have passed, is useful.
If memory has been stable for a while and you start having bsod's etc., I run HCI

EVEREST Ultimate Edition
EVEREST Ultimate Edition Is a very comprehensive utility giving a wealth of information and benches , the only downside is you have to buy it

currently EVEREST Ultimate Edition 5.30 Personal License is $39.95.

Everest Menory Benchmark , shown at top is one of the most widely used memory Benches.

I will add here fixes etc., that correct improve Everest

Handy Tweaks
1) Correct Core Temps - Change TjMax As mentioned elswhere the tJmax used in coretemp was overstated , it's the same with Everest. From Fiery Lavalys Developer

Prime works by working with Fast Fourier transform(ffts)
These can be grouped into 2 sizes :-
Large FFts
>512k
When processing these the CPU must use memory because of the size. So the calculations are done by manipulating the value in ram. So though both memory & CPU are being used it's memory that is getting stressed more.

As a consequence if Blend fails on an fft (>= 512k) then the best starting point to correct it is memory.

Small FFts
<512k
The data in this case can be mainly processed by the CPU with less memory usage. Consequently a failure on small fft (<512k) is likely to be linked with CPU issues.

Prime95 has 3 methods of operation:-
Small Fft
Large FFt
Blend
as seen below:-

So we can now choose what test to run depending on circumstance:-

Small Fft - To mainly test CPU This will generate the highest CPU Temps as well.
Large Ffts - To mainly stress and test ram - you will notice a 3~4C drop in cpu temp.
Blend - Alternately runs sets of 6 Large then 6 small ffts. This will stress both CPU & memory
So if blend fails check what fft it failed on. and take action accordingly.
