Arrow Newbie need help

Hi all,
Found this website a few days ago and registered today. I can say that it's a great website and really helpful with all the reviews and guides

I built my system last week and thinking about OC-ing in the next few days. I just bought OCZ XTC ram cooler (fitted) and bought Xigmatek Red Scorpion S1283 and Arctic Cooling MX-2 thermal paste (still waiting).
I was gonna get TRUE 120 (worried if my mobo snap one day ) or Zalman 9700 but after a few reviews changed my mind to Xigmatek.

I have a few questions about OC-ing as i'm fairly new to OC-ing
Thinking about OC to 3.2GHz and what the safest things to do (step by step) how to do it also thinking about putting 1 120mm fan on the side of my case, should i set it to blow/suck the air out the case or blow the air inside the case and let the rear exhaust blow the air out?
I'm thinking about getting this 120mm Sharkoon 1000 LED "Golf Ball", is it any good?

Thanks a lot and sorry about all the questions

edit:
Also how to OC my GPU for just now as saving for 4870 Crossfire for next year

Welcome to the forums

I'm glad you find the site of use

For the basics of overclocking, please see my guides in the overclocking section (stickies). The were written for earlier Asus boards, but the principle and a lot of the settings are the same - keep in mind that every system will differ, so you will need to adjust voltages accordingly. The P5K guide may be of use after youve read the original one

Regarding the fan, the best way to find out is to try it both ways, it really depends on what else is happening in your case and what other fans are blowing in and out.

The Sharkoon golfball fans are pretty well regarded and are decent enough for the price.

For overclocking your GPU, try something like rivatuner, there are many guides for that dotted around the net, but if you get stuck, we can help, it's pretty easy to do.

Be sure to get the latest Rivatuner if you wanna use that, but it wont allow you to clock past 800/1100 if you have a reference card because that's locked at BIOS level.
For some basic overclocking anyway the CCC will be enough.
Aw, you can't make software fan profiles with rivatuner, but you can force a constant fan speed like you can do in CCC.
For serious OCing, you gotta edit your BIOS and flash the card.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Yeah i've read the OC-ing guides and still not sure
So the first thing to do is set to my fsb to 350 if i want to achieve 3.2GHz am i right?

I've got Rivatuner and it looks really complicated to use also so scared to use it just incase i make a mess with my GPU. With CCC i can see that i can increase the GPU clock to 800mhz (original 750) and the memory clock to 1050mhz (original 1000).
Will i get more if i use Rivatuner?

HIS HD4670 my GPU.

What advantage from OC GPU?

Thanks a lot

Well, i did auto tune from CCC and recommended 790MHz for GPU clock and 1040MHz for memory clock.

Can you please list all your BIOS settings and we can go from there. Forget about overclocking the GPU until you have the rest of it nailed.

Just a comment on the fans.
Adding a extra fan may help of hurt depending on how much turbulence it generates. You want a one way flow through the case. Like Clunk suggested, try it both ways.

(See Icrontic PC airflow and heat - a cooling guide for an interesting read on some fan tests).

Thanks for the reply.

I started OC-ing last night and set the fsb to 286 first and boot to windows and did prime 95 for around 15 min and was fine. And then back to BIOS again and set it to 333 trying to get 3.0 GHz and didn't boot at all. PC restarted itself and the speed back to 2.4GHz. So i went back to BIOS changed the fsb to 306 to get 2.8 GHz and boot fine and run prime 95 for around 20 min and was fine as well.
I used everest and core temp to check the temperature and showing each core 1-4 around 39C and also showing the CPU temperature 48 C (just wondering is this the overall CPU temperature?).

What should i do to get the 3.0 GHz to boot and stable and also my target is 3.2 GHz as i'm running on air.

Well, you should read the Clunk's overclocking guide, then if you still have problems post your BIOS settings here.
