If you look down on the cooler it should look almost rectangular - you're saying the longest edge of the HS doesn't fit in alongside the northbridge arrangement?

So the rotation of the HS itself has to be rotated by 90 degrees, so it sits side on from how it should sit??

Where's the obstruction exactly? Can you take a picture?

As you can see from the photos I am not going to be able to fit it the right way as the NB is way too tall.

That's a pain in the arse, not enough vertical clearance.

If you want a quick fix alternative (swap) then the Thermalright Ultima 90 will fit, but it's slightly more expensive.

Ultima 90 Heatsink Dimensions: 115 x 55 x 139 mm

Xigamatek Heatsink Dimensions: 120 x 50 x 159 mm

Scan Computers UK: Thermalright Ultima-90 92/120 mm tower heat sink for Intel/AMD CPU (bare sink) with Scan Computers UK: 120mm Xigmatek XSF-F1251 eXTreme Ultra Quiet Case Fan - It's an option.

With that option am i going to be able to use a backplate to mount it?
I'm really p***ed off now! I've spent more time messing around with this PC and no time earning any money to pay for it all.

Yes it's a back plate design as opposed to push pin. Mine came with a back plate kit for both Intel/AMD. I'm assuming nothing has changed on that score. However to save yourself any more jerking around time, call and confirm with the retailer.

It's costing you RMA postage and time - and now the added expense of a separate fan and dearer cooler. It's not good, I know, and it's bad for blood pressure, but it could be worse - you could have physically broken something and been stuck with a product. It has happened.

The covers comes off the mars NB cooler
May give you sufficient room to mount the cooler the other way.

Anyway, having the cooler facing the PSU is not so terrible.

It's not ideal though, seeing as though your initial aim is to expel out of the rear exhaust. I would've RMA'd it if I couldn't have achieved that.
