modules say 4-4-4 @ 2.1v, i can only go to 1.95 with this mobo, so what would you recommend i set as the start timings, or should i just leave them at auto?

If the motherboard will only go to 1.95v and they need 2.1v to run at stock speeds, then there's not much point in trying to overclock them.

Also, it's unlikely you'll be able to do Cas3 @ 800MHz anyway, regardless of the voltage.

If you want to run them at the 4-4-4 timings, you will be better off using the 333/667 strap and running them slower than the rated speed. There's not a great deal of real world difference between 667 and 800MHz.

Well so far, i've got my 1600 MHz chip up to 2650 so far, the ratio is on 1:1 and the settings are all still auto for the memory. Temperatures are fine, 35deg idle, 52 deg load. cpu-z reports the timings set by the mobo auto setting as 4-4-4-12 at the 1.95v setting...

Given the mobo, i feel this is a good result.. Thanks for the help.. if there is anything else that you feel could be done better please advise.

any higher settings leave me with lockups in windows or while booting.
So a big thank you for now

You seem to be doing fine already

You can try upping the FSB in small steps until it becomes unstable and then back off slightly, but keep testing with your favourite stress testing program in between each adjustment.

"Your Multi is showing as 6x in CPU-Z, when it should be higher (8x, 9x, 10x etc), and your CPU speed is showing as much lower than it should be! - Go into the BIOS and under the advanced CPU settings, disable EIST/SPEEDSTEP. You should have already done this if you have followed the guide "

All of my CPU settings have been disabled, but nothing about SPEEDSTEP in there. CPU-Z is showing a 8.0 Multiplier when I should have a 8.5. when I lower the Multi to 8.0 it reads correct. (I haven't tried lower yet.)
I also am having issues with some of the benchmarking programs (Everest and CDmark06) Neither one reads my motherboard or CPU correctly. This is more than likly my Mobo's fault. Also in device manager it does not read my cpu just says unknown device. I am thinking of going to the next Bios down (13) it came out for my type of cpu and the 14 came out for the Q9650, but the 14 should have everything that the 13 has plus some.

When stress testing I usally have Coretemp Realtemp CPU-z and Uguru running so I can watch everything, but it freezes adventally. I was wondering if having to many of those running will cause lock ups or if it is just me. (Again I think it is The mobo, Uguru program that is causeing the strif in my Computer) but I need to watch the pwm temps, I thought I could watch the temps with Everest but that program hardly works for me, (had a loading error on it, a non signed driver. So windows probably didn't install it right. But I do not know how to turn that safty feature off or if I should.

On my ram right now I have it set to 5-5-5-15 and 2T everything else is set on auto because when I followed the posted pic settings I would be unstable. I was wondering a good place to start with those settings (Write recovery, TRFC, TRRD, write to read delay, ect...)

Write now I am decently stable at 3657.93Mhz 430.34 x8.5 . 5-5-5-15 2t auto for the rest. But ofcourse I want to find more than 3.6 I have heard of this cpu going over 4.0. I have decent cooling I hardly see over 55c at full load.

Sorry for the rambleing my pain meds kicked in. (Have a neck injury atm)

I believe there was a BIOS update to fix the Multi issue for some CPUs - not sure about yours though.

It's not your neck that's the pain, it's the IX38 QuadGT

That's the second facepalm I've had today, I'm doing well

I'm not sure what you can do really, there's no official BIOS releases due, in fact, they were few and far between while Abit were still in business.

Unless someone somewhere has made their own BIOS, which is highly unlikely, you'll probably just have to put up with the odd behaviour.

Posting some pics of my current Bios, I am having one hell of a time getting good timings with this divider. it seems like even votage isn't even working I up'ed Mch to 1.55 and DDR to 2.0 but can not get any tighter timings. Also I can not get memset 4.0 to allow me to make changes.[IMG][/IMG]

The reason I have kept the CPU at 435 is because I am waiting on some better fans to come in, My PMW temps shoot up to about 120c pretty fast at 445. and I only have a small fan zip tied on the PMW heatsink. Any other cooling ideas for the PMW?
