What the heck is that silver thing on the bottom of the mobo? Is that for socket reinforcement? LOL.

It might be, it certainly looks like it would strengthen it up a bit.

Might also be to do with cooling as the mem controller is no on chip?

I like the battery holder saves space on mobo & easy to remove , nice design.

It's a CPU backplate, about time they included one and let's hope it's a solid one.
If i recall correctly it's also on socket 1366 specs.

Yeah ok but we are going to see some radical new looks on the heatsink backplates. There isnt a lot of room around the holes to work with. Or would they just skip the backplates?
