Cool ASUS ROG MAXIMUS II FORMULA P45

New mobo from Asus, looks pretty sweet IMO! If the Blackops doesn't come soon it might be worth waiting and looking into this! They really went to town on the CPU power - 16 phases!

I'm seeing a major pitfall with that cooling.

Let's say you want to watercool the NB, you have to loose all the other cooling as well.

How much do we reckon? £300?

It does look mint I think, although at first it did remind me of a Scalextrix track!
Hopefully the cooling will be so good we won't need water (wishful thinking I know )

Must be coming close to £300 for when this comes out... They should chuck in a few mini cars for that much too...

Yeah, scalextrix looks spot on

They must be a pair of 8x PCI-E 2 slots as well.

Agreed.

It's okay for you though isn't it? I thought your first move was always to rip it all off .

Yeah it is, but I suspect that a lot of people will buy without thinking about that and then have to shell out another £60 for coolers, when they have already paid that much of a premium on the price of the board...or more

Good point about the cooling, it probably a PITA to remove as well.

With regards to the PCI-E slots, if my understanding is correct which it more then likely isn't, but you should be able to plug in say 1 GX2 in either blue slot and it will run at 16x?

I'm not sure how they have implemented it, but the P45 supports one 16x or two 8x....it would make sense to make it do both though. We will soon see anyway
