Default Zalman CNPS9900-NT CPU cooler coming up

Quote:
Previously showcased at Computex, the CNPS9900-NT cooler from Zalman is closing in fast and is expected to start hitting European stores within a week (or so). The upcoming cooler measures 94 (L) x 131 (W) x 152 (H) mm, weights 730 grams, slightly less than older brother the CNPS9900-LED, is made up of copper (which is nickel plated), has three heatpipes and a green LED-equipped 120mm fan working at 1000 to 2000 RPM.

The CNPS9900-NT has support for Intel LGA1156, 1366, 775, and AMD AM2+, AM2, 754, 939, 940 processors, is bundled with the ZM-STG2 thermal compound and costs just about 70 Euro. Also, the cooler is backed by a two-year warranty.

Looks very pretty , but with only 3 heatpipes, I wonder if it will be like it's predecessors and not be able to perform as well as the thermalright, Noctua and xigmatek products.

Thats what i was wondering, it doesnt look radically different from previous versions.
I suppose they market themselves as a noise reduction specialist but they still need to perform better than the last lot, even those expensive giant copper ones werent too great.

Yes nut forgetting thermalright who don't pack fans, Noctua fans are almost silent, you get more sound from your hd or PSU, in normal running. xigmatek fans tend to be higher RPM in the 2k range, so are louder , but still not way loud. So I think they have to have something new to compate. As you say it looks pretty much more of the same.
There's also the downside of having an integrated fan.
But a xigmatek & you want quiter or a Noctua & you want more power, get a new fan. Can't do that here.

Indeed, no douby pricey, large, and not as good performance as it's competitors.

The price is just way off, but I guess the marketing department isn't gonna write his own checks come the end of the month.
