Dell has increased the capacity of the solid-state drives on its range of XPS laptops, but not the price — at least as far as the US is concerned.
On Saturday a Samsung-manufactured 256GB
SSD appeared on Dell's US website as an option for the XPS M1330 and M1730 laptops. The
SSD is available as an upgrade, at a $400 (£270) premium, to the base specifications of those laptops.
Before the option of a 256GB
SSD was made available, the largest
SSD a customer could order as an upgrade for the XPS machines was 128GB in capacity. Upgrading to the 128GB
SSD also cost $400.
ZDNet UK has asked Dell if and when the 256GB
SSD option will be made available to UK customers, but had not received a reply at the time of writing.
