Smile Greetings to All

Greetings to All,

TNeed4Speed here in the Spring Texas area.

Wanted to ask about the X48 mobo's that need testing for operational temperatures:

1. Asus - P5E64 WS Evolution

2. Asus - Rampage Extreme - true X48 platform not yet released

So far running 17GFLOPS on QX6850, Mushkin 8GB, EVGA 8800Ultra's, Asus Striker Extreme for very high end 3D graphics files up to 85GB in size. Have not exceeded any file size to date at full loads maximum temperatures: 26 degrees Celsius, GPU - 40 degrees Celsius at the very highest temperature. Looking for even cooler temperatures in future build -X48 plat.

Seen the tests on the Striker II Extreme - way to hot

Anticipating these two new mobo's tests!

Please advise on Asus Rampage Extreme release date if to anyones' knowledge.

Welcome to the forums

The Rampage Extreme we will grab for testing, I'm not sure about the WS, unless Asus want to send us one, I don't think we will be reviewing it

I'm not sure of an exact release date, sorry.

You'll be going for crossfire cards then if you change?

Smile Asus Rampage Extreme OR P5E64 WS Evolution mobo's

Greetings All - new here,

I am very interested in these two HIGH END GRAPHICS mobo's running on AIR cooling only.

I have previous (specific air cooling) System running QX6850, Asus Striker Extreme, 8GB Mushkin DDR2 800 MHZ DIMM's, (2)8800 Ultra's and achieving 23 GFLOPS/second: 2560X1600 DPI on (4) 28" Hanns-G quad screens running no more than 29 degrees Celsius total FULL load of 30 CAD applications at once. No chopping or ANY delays whatsoever. The "splash" screens that normally take 3 minutes to clear, flash in about 1/2 second for any app. File sizes are in excess of 85GB each and tolerances down to 2 microns (+-).

Would like to discuss further with anyone who is interested and when convenient.
Trying to achieve a "new" speed record of 83 GFLOPS on Sandra with AIR cooling only.

Would be interested in hearing from those in the "know" when possible.

Kind regards,

If you work with CAD applications and aim for maximum performances, shouldn't you use Quadro series GPUs?
They are dedicated to professional 3d apps (CAD, modeling, animation) the same way the 8800 series is oriented towards gaming.
