    Hi Guys!!

Hi guys I have been running my system at optimised defaults for over a year and think its about time I overclocked my system and see what the difference actually is! The last time I overclocked anything it was my Abit NF7 with my trusty AMD Mobile Barton 2600 cpu!! Good old days lol!

I currently have the following setup:
    Code:
    ASUS P5K Premium WiFi-AP (BIOS 1103)
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 Stepping
    Scythe SCNJ-1000 Ninja Heatsink
    Kingston HyperX 8GB (4x2GB) DDR2 6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel (KHX6400D2LLK2)
OCZ 780W ModXstream Modular Power Supply
Sapphire HD 3850 Pro 256MB GDDR3 Dual DVI TVO PCI-E
    Coolermaster Cosmos RC-1000 Full Tower
    Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB HDD x 3
    WinXP Pro x64
I will start a new thread to ask questions but just thought I would do a quick intro here... From what I read I should be able to quite easily overclock to 3.4 to 3.6 ghz but the tutorials posted quite old and not sure if they apply to the latest bios...

Any help will be appreciated... Did register on another forum too but havent had a single response... "not sure why though "

    Thanks in advanced

    Bally

    Welcome to the forums

Yes, 3.6GHz should be reasonably easy as long as your CPU isn't a duffer. Have a look at the overclocking guides in my sig, they should get you started.

    Hello there, welcome.

3.6GHz seems to be round about where most Q6600s go to for 24/7 stability. The older Q6600s seem to be the better OCers and will probably go higher. The guides will still apply to your newer BIOS, there shouldn't be a significant difference.

There are lots of helpful and friendly people here to help you. Nice rig you have too

hey m8, welcome to the forum

if you was unlucky you might top out with your cpu around 3/3.2ghz as intel sold a few duffer q66s about a year ago but saying that you may have a great cpu and 3.8/4ghz is doable too. either way im sure you will get improvements in performance from how its ran sofar even with a small increase in fsb and with the guides and guys around to answer any questions you may have it should be easy. the only issue i can see that might cause you a head ache or 2 is that your running 4 dimms and this can require more voltage to the nb or somtimes reduced speed or increased latency.

have fun along the way bro

Thanks for the all the replies, have been doing some intence reading and still getting my head around all the voltages... I have now started a new thread and posted current settings etc... Going to see how long my system runs on current settings before notching it up a little each time... The only thing I was worried about was taking voltages too high but read I could take NB Voltage to 1.4v if needed.

Cant post links or images yet but will slowly go through forum and contribute where I can
