Default Hi all

Hi have been 'lurking' around for a few weeks now and thought I would sign up and say Hi and pick some of the brains around these parts.

I have been tinkering for years with computer from below 100hz days!!!!!! Any ways have recently just decided to get my first water cooled system and the parts to go with it. Bits so far.

Q9550
asus maximus ii formula
corsair hx1000 wat psu
4 gig drr2 1066 corsair with a nice little fan.
A termaltake kandalf lcs case (yeah i know easy cheap route to water cooling but it a start will get a better water block)

Using my existing 150 gig raptor and a 3870 till I can make up my mind.

Anyway got it all put together Tuesday and tinkered last night. Never thought a bios would scare me but this is worrying how easy it is for me to break things. The mother board looks very good!! tho.

I have manged to get a nice steady oc to 3750 and stable after 16 hours of prime max temp was around 60 on one core the others a little less. Anyway enough rambling off to the overclocking section to ask some questions.

Thanks for all the advice in advance

Poo

Hey there, welcome!

You left all on auto to get to 3750?
Mind you, Asus boards tend to get VERY generous with voltages when left on auto.

Yes at the moment almost everything is on auto apart from the mem voltage, cpu and one of the (pll or tll cant remember which one ) It was late last night when i noticed in the bios one of those settings was red so i manually reduced it. I will be paying attention tonight and posting. I would like to have a 4 gig stable but with sensible temps. Even last night the temp were going down as my as5 settles in.
