Default New budget CPU build - not overclocking as expected...

Right i've recently put together a modest system with a temprary cpu till isave up more money for a quad core.

Consisting of an Asus P5K-E/Wifi-ap
Intel E2220
4GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2-6400 (4-4-4-12)
Gigabyte 8800GT
Corsair 650W PSU

I've started overclocking it using the guide on this forum.
I've got from its stick 2.4GHz 800Mhz FSB to 2.66 MHz with 1064Hz FSB (10x multiplier) but I can't seem to go any higher?
I've tried lowering the multiplier, but I cant get the FSB to go beyond 266.
If I go over 266 Windows fails to load, and anywhere near 333 it fails to post and needs a CMOS reset.
Yet from reading various forums the E2000 series and E2200 will go to 3GHz+ quite happily. And the P5K-E supports a 400MHz (1600) FSB

Where am I going wrong?

Hey there and welcome.
Grab a BIOS template for your board, fill it up with the settings you are using, and post it here.
Also, add your systems specs to the extra options part in your profile.

So what voltages are you using on CPU, VTT, NB, PLL?

I'd start by setting dram timings to 5-5-5-15, setting the FSB strap to northbridge to 333, DRAM frequency to 667, manually setting your vCore to 1.35, cpu voltage reference to 1.25, CPU GTL Ref to 0.67.
Then test with Prime and report here.

Ok, after playing with those settings you recommended:
DRAM timings 5-5-5-15
FSB to Northbridge strap 333MHz
DRAM frequency: 649 (can seem to set it to 667 - not on list)
vCore (I couldn't find this setting in the BIOS so I set the CPU Voltage) to 1.35
CPU Voltage Refernce (couldn't find this setting either)
CPU GTL Ref to 0.63 (closest setting to 0.67 available)

These settings allowed me to raise the FSB frequency to 275 - over this and Windows fails to load with a BSoD.
CPU-z now reports
Multiplier: x10
Clock 2758.1
FSB 275.8
FSB rated 1103.2

RAM 331MHz
Timings 5-5-5-15
FSB : DRAM 5:6

So a marginal raise. But should I be achieving more?
