Default Official Intel Quad Core Overclocking Thread - All Steppings (56k warning)

Add your Overclocks here, please make sure you include all the details and proof of stability, screenies etc.

Heres a few older ones from the B3, in no particular order - some of the lower CPU clocks are ones where I was messing with the memory.

Note the temps on the first one - this is before I got a backplate, dropped about 10c after fitting that.

And here's a picture of my posessed dog.

Im wondering how you can hit such high GHz with such a low Vcore?
For me to hit 3969MHz (440X9) I need almost 1.6v, is that normal? The highest Ive gotten my quad to boot into windows is 3978MHz. At 4GHz it refuses to boot windows, no matter what voltage. With my old Commando I hit 500fsb with an E6320 (7X500) it wasnt prime stable for long but it did boot into windows at least. With a little work it might have been stable, I was new at over clocking at the time so I didnt push the system more than that. Another thing, I dont understand why everybody hates the commando so much, mine is still solid as a rock!

Here is my current system:

Asus Maximus Formula SE
Q6600 2.4 GHz @ 3.6 GHz
2 GB Corsair Dominator PC 8500
2X WD caviar 320 GB in RAID 0
2X 250 GB External HDDs
1X Seagate barracuda 320GB
Creative SB X-FI Fatal1ty
Corsair TX750 W
Asus 8800GT
Slightly modded Antec P180
Watercooled

What should I do to be able to get it past the (for me) magical 4GHz barrier?

Its now at 3,6GHz,prime stable for 2 hours. Didnt bother to run longer, will let it run overnight and see what happens.

Many thanks in advance!

Looks good to me, is it stable? With prime? Overnight?

Put it this way, I haven't run prime over night but on these settings it hasn't missed a beat. It happily sits here folding all day.

Last night I tried dropping the multiplier to 8 and the fsb up 450, but after about 20mins of cod4 it fell over and restarted. So I need to refine the settings I got a feeling it was something to do with voltages to the northbridge. If I can get to run at that I post up again

This is good enough for me, for the time being.

It's water with only one fan running out of three on the radiator, system is under contruction. I want to reach 4GHz but it seems impossible without insane ammounts of vcore.

thats whay i thought when i got this chip, but i found it is tempermental about the voltage. setting between 1.6325 and 1.7v usually got me way above 4ghz, but less voltage was only stable for a short time, and more caused heat problems.

Mine's running on air so I'm about at my limit but I'm gonna try to drop the multiplier to 8 and go 450 on the memory again at some point today

Can anyone tell me, if I update the bios will I lose my setting for the overclocks ( I can't remember) ????
